Chapter Nine

<Kate's POV>

<Dream>

I hear a knock on the front door. Joey and I were just making some breakfast. 

"I'll get it" I say heading for the door. I open the door and freeze in my tracks.

"Hey babe, did you miss me?" Brian says

"Brian what are you doing here?" I ask angrily

"Well, I found out about your 'poor brother' who really isn't in the hospital, and I used a tracking device in your phone to find you here. Now I'm going to take you home where you belong" he says 

"Kate who's at the door?" Joey yells from the kitchen

"Who's that?" Brian asks. Joey comes out of the kitchen and tackles Brian. Joey punched him in the eye but then it got ugly. Brian kicked Joey in the stomach and punched him in the jaw. Joey falls on the ground holding his stomach. I didn't realize  until then that I was crying hysterically.

"I HATE YOU" I yell

I wake up with tears streaming down my face. Joey wakes up and sits up.

"Kate, did you have another dream?" he asks. I nod my head and start balling. Joey pulls me into a hug and I cry on his shoulder. 

"It's okay Kate. You're not going anywhere. Shhh" he says. I start to calm down and Joey and I lay back down. I get as close to him as I could so I know he's there. 

<Joey's POV>

Poor Kate. It kills me to see her crying almost every night over this stupid Brian guy. I pull Kate close and I kiss her on the cheek. 

"I love you Kate" I say. I didn't sleep much the rest of that night because I wanted to be ready if Kate needed me again. I just love her so much, I hate seeing her like this.

<Kate's POV>

I wake up the next morning very angry. I hate having dreams about Brian. But there's nothing I can really do to stop them. I get up and take a shower and get dressed. I don't sing because I knew it would make me cry. Brian before he was a druggie used to sing to me all the time because he used to be a singer. I thought he was amazing and I loved when he sang to me. I put my hair in a messy bun and I go to find Joey. I walk into his room to see him passed out. He must have had as bad of a night as I had. I kiss him on the forehead and I walk downstairs to make some breakfast. I make us some eggs and I made Joey his green juice. I eat my eggs and I put Joey's juice in the fridge. I go watch tv for a while waiting for Joey to wake up. I call Meghan because I told her I would. I dial her number and wait for her to answer.

"Hey Kate! How are you?" she says

"Hi Meghan! I'm okay how are you?" I say

"What's wrong? And there's something we need to talk about" she says

"Well I keep having dreams about Brian and him finding out that I'm here and not in New York" I say

"Actually Kate, that's what I need to talk to you about. Brian called me yesterday. He asked if you were with me. I told him no because I was on vacation visiting my family. I think he might be coming"
