Chapter Twenty-Five

<Kate's POV>

//A month later//

Daniel.

Daniel Preda was taking my man.

I walk out into the kitchen with a note on the fridge. It's of course from Joey and reads "Hey, sorry I had to leave so early. Call time was 6 this morning. Going to get coffee with Daniel. Love you -Joey" I take the note into my hands. I don't understand. Joey isn't gay, right? He may be girly sometimes but he loves me. I put the note in my pocket and go upstairs to get ready. I needed to film some videos today because I had been getting behind on my channel. I had reached a million subscribers a few weeks ago, I'm still in shock. I guess people like me for some reason. I grab my camera and start filming an "Ask Kate".

" Chelsea_Miles asks '#AskKate How are you and Joey?' Well Chelsea," I pause for a second "Me and Joey are great" I say not believing myself "Just great" I feel the tears in my eyes, one slowly falls down my face. "Actually, things aren't as perfect as they seem" I say starting to cry even harder. I can't keep filming my video. I text Meghan and ask her to come over. I lay down, face down, on my bed.

15 minutes later Meghan lightly knocks on my door

"Hey Kate, what's the matter?" she says softly. I look up at her, tears streaming down my face. She sits down next to me

"I think Joey's in love with Daniel" I say through sobs

"Daniel Preda?" she asks "The one in Joey's short film?"

"Yeah! I mean I wouldn't be surprised if Joey did like him. Daniel's hot and tall and nice and funny. He's got it all" I say balling even harder. Meghan pulls me into a hug

"Kate, I'm sure Joey still loves you as much as you love him. I'm sure him and Daniel are just good friends!" she says rubbing my back. Then I hear the front door slam. Joey.

"Crap! Joey's home! I don't want him to know I was crying!!" I say half whispering

"Kate?!" I hear Joey yell from downstairs

"You go to the bathroom and freshen up, I'll try and distract him" Meghan says

"Thanks Meghan!" I say getting up and going into the bathroom. I don't know how much time I have so I try and freshen up fast. I wash my face but my red eyes won't go away! I hope they wear off soon. I open the door and Joey's outside the door waiting for me.

"Hi, Meghan just left. She said she'd text you later" he says softly

"Thanks"I say

"Kate, why are your eyes red? Did something happen?" he asks

"No, nothing happened. I, uh, got some soap in my eyes when I was washing my face. No big deal" I say trying to play it off

"Okay, but if there's something going on, please tell me" he says with concern in his voice

"Nothing's going on, I promise. So tell me about work, how was it?" I ask. Joey goes on about what he did and what his film's about. I act like I'm listening but I'm really just thinking about Daniel Preda. What if they got married? Gay marriage is legal now. What would happen to me? Would I have to go back to Illinois where I came from? Would I have to marry Bryan? Just the thought of Bryan gave me the shivers. I keep thinking and thinking until all of a sudden.

"Kate?" Joey asks. It brings me back into reality
