October 3, 1983

Stevie slaved all day over the cake that she was making. It was her own recipe for a spice cake. It was born from the fact that at one point Stevie was trying to make carrot cake because that's her favorite, but she forgot to buy carrots so she made a carrot less carrot cake and she actually quite enjoyed it so she was calling it a spice cake. She didn't know what Lindsey was doing, but he had disappeared from Amalfi hours ago so she was working in peace. After she iced the cake she looked up and smiled seeing the 6:00 on the stove clock. She had a half an hour to get ready before she and Lindsey would be taken to Rohber's. She was hopeful that he was going to be home on time but he was cutting it close.

She had just completed her hair and her make up when Lindsey walked into the closet. He didn't have a whole heck of a lot of stuff hung up yet, but he was only supposed to be there for a week and now that things were changing he was trying to figure everything out.

"Where did you go all day?" She asks.

"Well, I went to the pet store, I went to the government building and informed them that I was becoming a new citizen of Everfi and doing the address thingy and getting my licensed updated. And now I'm here." He tells her grabbing his suit from the courting ball night, because Rohber's was fancy and jeans and a button up wouldn't cut it.

"Pet Store, why'd you go to the pet store?" She asks.

"Back in Ellerton I have a dog...I hope that's not a deal breaker for you. His name is Tucker. I decided that since he was moving here, he'd get all new stuff. His toys and bed are all torn up and yucky. He'll keep his duck and his blanket but other than that, all new toys." He explains pulling her out into the bedroom where a giant dog bed was now placed in the corner by his side of the bed.

"Well no, Dogs aren't deal breakers for me. I just hope he likes me." Stevie sighs.

"I think he will. He's friendly. He's only two years old, so he's still very impressionable." Lindsey informs her.

"Mmm, what are you wearing tonight?" She asks.

"This light blue silk button down, my suit pants from the ball and the matching jacket." He tells her.

"I like that button down it brings out your eyes." She tells him going back over to her dresses.

"If I wear this we'll match." She holds out a light blue dress. It was tight in the top, sleeveless, but the bottom was flowy chiffon and it went to about her mid thigh.

"You wanna match?" He asks.

"I mean why not...It's going to happen often, we might as well start now." She shrugs.

"Okay. I do like that dress." He nods.

"Alright now, take your clothes and shoo, I have to strip down to wear this." She waves her hands at him. Her current outfit is a pair of black leggings and a white long sleeve teeshirt. Her housework clothes as she calls them.

When she emerges she has a gold shawl wrapped around her shoulders and her feet are in gold platform sandals.

"You do realize it's October right?" He asks.

"Yes, but it's still warm." Stevie tells him.

"Well, you do look beautiful. Shall we go?" he asks.

"Yeah, we shall." She nods.

Rohber's had just as many photographers as the grocery store, and this time as soon as Lindsey helped her out of the car and bid goodbye to their driver, sending him off for two hours, his hand automatically found her lower back and she grabbed onto one of his belt loops

Lindsey's birthday dinner went well, she found out that he preferred scotch to drink and she found it very classy. Her father was the same way and she smiled at the memory. They talked about her drink preference. Tequila was her favorite, but if she had to be classy she preferred red wine or champagne. She said white wine was just too dry for her. It was actually really good that they went because it allowed them to get to know each other. He played guitar, she wrote and drew. He also drew, not very well but he did draw. She drank coffee in the morning, right when she woke up, tea in the afternoon-hot tea. Iced tea she drank throughout the day. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, she hated receiving gifts because she had everything she'd ever need in the world, but she loved to buy gifts for people. Most of her close friends were gifted a solid gold crescent moon necklace.  He hated buying gifts. He'd much rather give someone a gift card. He was a loner. He'd much rather be in a room by himself or with only a few people than in a big party like the courting ball. She flourished around people. They were literally opposites.

When they arrived back home, as soon as Stevie unlocked the door she sighed. "Now, I don't have a gift for you because I literally found out when your birthday was yesterday, but I did make you a killer cake so you go sit in the living room and I'll bring it in for you." She smiles setting her clutch down on a little table that she has in the entry way.

He obliged and then she dropped in thirty four candles and she gingerly carried the cake out to him, singing Happy Birthday to him softly. He laughed when he saw the amount of candles and how she had them arranged very phallic like. But he blew out the candles and as she was plucking them off of the cake he looked at her.

"You have a very good voice."

"Thanks, I used to sing with my dad all the time when I was little." She smiles.

"I wish I could've met him." Lindsey gives her shoulder a squeeze.

They were warming up to each other. It would take a while for them to be couple-y, but they were both trying to get to used to it.
