Time Jump
April 28, 1988
Lindsey watched from the doorway leading to the beach. They were renting a place in Hawaii for a much needed break. They were on week two, their final week of the stay. Stevie for some reason had worked non-stop since William turned one. He didn't need her anymore, he was a strong independent baby. She couldn't even try to feed him anymore. Unless he was sick then it was hands down all about mama. But he hadn't really been sick either.
Stevie was sitting on a towel in the sand on their private beach wearing a very sexy black one piece. It had a very deep plunging neckline and there were little bands between her breasts connecting it. And at her hips it was just small bands connecting front and back. It was NEVER something she'd wear out in public but it was their private beach. She did it purposefully.
William wasn't that far from her. She was on dry stand, he was on the wet sand, the waves washing over him. He was 2, so he was sitting there in a pair of little green swim trunks and arm floaties.
It was in those moments where Lindsey wanted to have another baby. Watching William become the independent little boy that he was turning into just put everything in perspective. Children are a wonderful thing. William was still sleeping in a crib, but Lindsey's favorite moments of the day were when he'd crawl up on his lap and curl up and sleep for his afternoon nap. Lindsey never got anything done when that happened but he relished in those moments and he really wanted another one. But he knew that it was most likely never going to happen. He knew about the heir and spare thing, everyone did. So the fact that they weren't going to have a spare ate at him. There was always that sinking feeling of what'll happen if something does happen to William. It's every parents worst nightmare that their kid may die of cancer, or in an accident. God forbid they get kidnapped. Not that their baby would ever be a spare. They'd love them jut the same but those thoughts did plague him.
Hell, at the end of the day, Lindsey just thought that William was missing out on so many things. Lindsey was the younger brother, so he doesn't know how is older brother's feel about the whole situation, but growing up with the two siblings around him, they were automatically built in best friends. He was a loner but he was never alone. If something was going on that he felt he couldn't tell his parents about he could tell Greg or Jeff. Mostly Greg as he was the one closer in age to him, and the one he played with the most, but he would tell them and they'd help him work though it. William would never get the option of a personal confidante.
He sighed and shook his head before he walked up to Stevie's towel. She was keeping a close eye on the baby, but she was also absentmindedly thumbing through a magazine.
"You're thinking hard about something." She states sensing him.
"I don't want to talk about it." Lindsey shakes his head.
"Lindsey, I'm your wife you can talk to me about anything." She sets the magazine down and looks up at it.
"It's going to start a fight and I don't want to ruin our last week of vacation." He assures her.
"Lindsey...." She had a warning tone to her voice and he knew that he had lost.
"I want another baby."
"No, absolutely not." Stevie spits.
"I know, that's why I didn't want to say anything but you were pushing."
"Lindsey, you know how I feel about children."
"But this one turned out okay. He's two and we have not once seen an inkling of terrible twos." Lindsey replies.
