December 1, 1983

Stevie was nervous. Very nervous. She didn't know why she was nervous she had been apart of the tree lighting for years. If anything it was the fact that Lindsey was supposed to be proposing tonight. She was ready and raring to go, but she was pacing back and forth in the living room waiting for Lindsey. She was wearing a camel colored balloon sleeve cashmere sweater tucked into a brown suede skirt. On her feet were a pair of tan high platform boots. Six inches high to be exact. Her coat, a tan trench coat was thrown over the couch and she was just pacing in her own little world until the dog jumped on the back door.

"Tucker No." She scolds before walking over to the door and letting him in. As soon as he's in the house, she kneels down to him and grabs his chin. "Tucker you don't jump on the door."

He just huffs and goes over to his water bowl. The two of them were indifferent as he was still getting used to her. It had been a month so, he had stopped barking at her every time she looked at him, but he still really liked to be pet by her. He still didn't like to obey her, but every once in a while, if she was sitting on the couch drinking a glass of wine winding down for the night, Lindsey either playing his guitar or watching something on the television, he'd curl up on the opposite end, but slowly he'd inch closer to her and eventually his head would end up on her lap, but that was the extent of their relationship. When the started drinking, Stevie sighed and started up her pacing back and forth again.

"What's the matter with you?" Lindsey asks walking downstairs. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a brown button down shirt tucked into his pants. Brown Chelsea boots on his feet.

"I'm nervous." She admits.

"About what?" He inquires.

"About everything. About you proposing. How the people will react. I don't know." She shakes her head.

"It'll all be okay." Lindsey assures her grabbing her biceps and kissing her head. Something shifted in them after the had sex. They haven't done it since that night that Lindsey got home, but they were starting to react to each other a little bit more. They weren't just co-habitating. They were cuddling on the couch. Touching each other. They'd take Tucker on a walk around the gardens together. They had almost become inseparable it seemed.

There was a knock at the door, and Stevie sighed pulling away from him. He takes her coat and places it over her shoulder and then grabs his own, and the two of them make their way out to the waiting car.

Mick had told Lindsey he'd know when the perfect moment was. At first it concerned him, because he had never experienced an Everfi Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The whole of the kingdom had gathered at the square. There was a giant ten foot tree that Stevie about blended into. It was expertly decorated with colorful bulbs, red bows, icicle shaped silver sparkly ornaments and strings and strings and strings of lights everywhere.

Stevie gave a speech and Lindsey fiddled around in his pocket. When she turned to  give the guys actually in charge of lighting the tree the okay, Lindsey tapped her shoulder. She cocked an eyebrow as she turned to him and then she saw that he was down on his knee holding a ring out to her. Her hands came up to her mouth and then she waited.

"Stephanie, will you give me the privilege of marrying you?"

"Yes, yes I will." She says after a moment. He stands up and engulfs her in a hug and kisses her passionately in front of the whooping  crowd and then when they pull away he grabs her hand.

"What?" She asks.

"Mick and I worked together on this." He tells her as he slides a gorgeous ring on her finger.

The ring is 14-karat white gold. Right in the center it had  1/2-karat oval diamond. There were small round diamonds that outlined the oval shaped diamond and they were along the band of the engagement ring creating almost a wave-like pattern. There were two contouring wedding bands, one for each side of the engagement ring and both were encrusted with diamonds.

"It's gorgeous Lindsey." She smiles throwing her arms around him and kissing him again. When they break apart the second time the cameras zoom in on her left hand where the engagement ring of the three was perfectly fit on her finger. She wiggled it and showed it off and then she brought Lindsey over to the microphone.

"Lindsey and I want to wish you all a merry Christmas. Have a great night."

Once they were seated back in their car, Stevie kept admiring the silver on her finger.

"You know, I'm more of a gold person, but I do really love this ring." She explains.

"Mick told me. I looked at several gold rings but none of them outwardly screamed Stevie to me. I kept going back to this one so I decided that I had to buy it." Lindsey shrugs.

"Well, I really appreciate it." She leans over and kisses him.

"So now what?" Lindsey asks.

"Well, now...we go pick out our own trees."

"Trees?" He asks.

"We have to have one for the living room, that's our tree. There has to be one for the ball room especially if we're hosting two consecutive balls. And then there's going to be one in the office-sitting room place." Stevie explains counting on her fingers.

"Do we have enough ornaments for everything?"

"Nope, but that's why we go to the store. Nathaniel knows our schedule...Right Nathaniel." Stevie looks at their driver.

"Yes your majesty." He smiles driving away.

It was broaching eleven o'clock at night by the time Lindsey and Stevie had finished organizing their ornaments. Stevie had a vision in her head and though the trees weren't going to be there until the following day, she wanted to have everything in their rightful room before the trees got there.

As soon as they settled into bed for the night, Tucker decided he wanted to sleep with them so he jumped up on the bed and though Stevie wanted to scold him, he nuzzled up with her and cuddled with her, so she bit her tongue and glared at Lindsey who just laughed in response.
