Ch. 29-

I chase after Sklyer wanting to return her things to her, but she had already sped off to her house. She was so upset about what Courtney has done and I have a feeling that I have upset her more for interfering. I decide not to call her up until she cools down. She has simmered down a little because before heading to sleep my phone dings and I receive a text from her.

My phone reads:

"Are u busy during Mon"

"I don't have any plans yet"

"Ok
Would you like to come ovr?
Just dinner wt me and my fam"

"Will do so.. (: Night"

I smile at the screen happy that she isn't mad at me and shut my eyes as I fall asleep.

The weekend passes by and Monday comes around. I have no plans as usual so that afternoon I get up and dress up wanting to be ready for dinner with Skyler and her family. I feel a bit nervous and is unable to decide what to wear so I wear a casual outfit. I grab a pair of dark jeans and a black button up shirt. I roll my sleeves up to my elbows and leave the first button open keeping the shirt a bit loose and allowing myself to breath. I enter my office and rummage through as I grab a roll of tape. I also pull Skyler's drawings out of my book bag that I collected from Friday and take my time to piece them back together like a puzzle.

Once I finish I take my time to sit back and admire her artwork that she had never shared with me before. Her drawings are incredible. She draws buildings, objects, animals, and people. They are very detailed and nothing that I have ever seen before. I stare at the wrinkled and ripped paper, disappointed that Courtney can do that to something that is so beautiful and incredible. I shake my head pitying Courtney as I carefully tape them up together. I then place them in a brand new plastic folder and the sketchbook into a small plaid gift bag.

I decide to ride one of the cars instead of driving my motorcycle and head to a nearby garden shop. I roam through the store and pick up a cactus in a pot. I place the bag and the pot in the passenger seat and head to Skyler's home. I knock on the door and, luckily, Skyler opens the door instead of Amy. I enter the house and a sweet scent of cookies fills the air. I inhale deeply enjoying the sweet taste. Hailey runs towards the open door when she sees me and hugs me tightly. She wears a purple beanie covering the baldness and has drawn on eyebrows, which is a purple color matching her beanie.

She sees me staring and asks, "Do you like them?"

I nod my head and laugh, "Very much,"

From my comment she grins brightly, with the gap between her two front teeth. Skyler smiles warmly and rubs my arm affectionally as though she is thanking me for not being so weirded out about her eyebrows.

"What do you have there?" Skyler asks, pointing at the plant and the bag in carrying.

"For you,"

"Thank you. The cactus is beautiful," She says, shyly, and reaches out for it. I hand her them and she peaks inside the gift bag, "Wait, isn't this my sketchbook?"

"Yeah," I nod and laugh.

"Thanks," She says softly and places it on a table.

She smiles at me kindly as Hailey drags me to the kitchen. There is a tray of hot cookies and Amy is picking each one off the cookie sheet and placing them in a plate.

"No wonder why it smells so good," I groan.

Amy laughs, "This is for after dinner. You are staying right?"
