Ch. 23-
The soft tinkling of the wood wind chime above me chimes as I enter the shop. The Fernando's Bakery is a cafe, a few blocks away from my home, that I never knew existed until today. An aroma of strong coffee and fresh baked sweets gush through as I enter. I look around at the cafe. It has wooden flooring and fake green vines that climb around the wall. It isn't the type of cafe I would usually go to, but this cafe is the only one in the entire town that has the most beautiful employee.
I step up to the counter and clear my throat as I wait for the girl near the coffee machine, "Can I have a black coffee?" I ask.
"Did you come to bother me?" The girl says and turns around smiling.
"That is no way to treat a fine costumer," I say.
"Who cares when it's you," Skyler replies and giggles.
"Will you give me some coffee or not?" I say, impatiently.
"Coming up," She says and pours coffee into a white large mug, "Would you like any sugar or creamer?" She ask, professionally.
I shake my head and she gives me a confused, "So you drink plain coffee?" She says in a low voice as though it is something bad.
I shake my head, disagreeing, "I don't drink coffee at all."
She pokes me and narrows her eyes, "Then why did you come here for?"
"I have a gift for you," I say as I show her the box that was behind my back. it I place it on the counter and push the present towards her.
"Why are you buying me stuff for?" She says, confused.
"Open the box and you will find out why I bought it," I say beaming at her as I sit at the edge of my chair excited for her to open it up.
Clink...Clink...
The wind chime clinks against each other, "Okay, but later. I have a real costumers here," She says sticking her tongue at me.
"I'm a real costumer too," I say frowning.
She shrugs and leaves from behind the counter. She grabs a notepad and a pen from her apron pocket and prepares to write without looking up, "What shall I bring you, Sir?" Skyler says, politely.
The man sits down and pulls his sunglasses off. He leans against the table with a sly smirk on his face, "Hello, Sky," He says.
"What are you doing here?" Skyler says, quietly, as she steps back a bit. I sit upright as I sense fear coming from Skyler. I remain seated though watching and listening to what will happen next.
He hasn't noticed me, yet, and stands as he touches Skyler's face, "Well, do I need a reason to buy coffee?" He answers.
"Stop it, Richard." She says through gritted teeth and pushes him away from her.
"Woah, you suddenly became a furious kitty," He says with a laugh.
"Just leave," She says.
"You can't kick out a costumer." He says, proudly.
A flame of fear flashes across Skyler's face and it becomes noticeable to me. Time to join in the conversation with fist. I crack my knuckles and take a step towards them.
Richard does not seems to notice it because he begins to speak once more, "Are you scared, kitten?" He ask in a taunting tone.
"Richard." I say interrupting the tense atmosphere.
He turns around and places his sunglasses back on, "Oh, look it is superman," He says, sarcastically, "What are you doing at a low class cafe like this?"
