Ch. 17-

I grab a lunch tray and sit on Courtney's lunch table. It is a blob of yellow noodles, which the Americans call it Mac n' Cheese. I push my food around, grimacing at the hideous meal. This is the first time ever seeing something like this. Courtney directed my to enjoy my food while she was gone. So, I bring a forkful of it near my mouth, hesitating, before taking a bite. Thousands of different cheese flavors settle in my mouth. I frown and spit it into a napkin as a rotten taste remains on my tongue. I gag and drink from my water bottle, gulping it down.

I shake my head at the awful experience and pick the full tray heading to the trash. Courtney and her followers don't want to eat Mac n' Cheese today and have headed to the bathroom. I now understand why they did not eat it. I shake my head. My father pays a large amount for my tuition and we get fed this crap. I dispose of the meal, but sadly another disgusting bite appears with, of course, his girlfriend standing besides him.

"What do you want." I groan, not really wanting to know the reason why he has approached me.

"Calm down, Ednan. Can't you greet an old friend with a polite greeting?" Richard replies.

I sigh loudly and head to "Courthey's" lunch table.

"Wait up, dude." He speaks up, "I got a question."

"You and your question can leave." I reply.

He ignores what I said and continues, "When has this 'you dating Courtney' thing start?" I turn around and stare at Richard.

"Today." I reply, honestly.

Skyler gawks at me in disbelief and when I catch her looking she dodges my eyes and stares at the floor instead.

"Well, enjoy yourselves while it last because you two won't last this entire week." He says challenging me.

"Want to bet on it," I say irritated and take a step towards him, "Our relationship will last longer then yours." I say, confidently.

Richard smiles, "Deal. Sky isn't ever leaving my side. Right babe?" He says.

Skyler looks up, smiling, and shakes her head agreeing as he slips his arm around her.

"Be careful, Richard. Your girlfriend is a good liar." I say speaking directly to Skyler. She blinks at me, emotionless.

"I know." Richard replies with a lazy smirk, "Okay, the loser of the bet will have to listen to whatever they want for an entire school day." Richard says, holding his hand out for me to shake.

"Deal," I take his hand and shake it firmly. The second our deal is made, I see Skyler look at me and shake her head in disapproval.

Courtney and her followers appear at the same moment I release Richard's clammy palm. Courtney interrupts our stare as she hooks her arm with mine.

"What's happening, Ednan?" She says, sounding angry.

"We made a bet that your relationship won't last longer then ours," Richard answers instead of me.

Amber turns as red as her bright red hair, "BS!" Amber pokes in, "You don't know how to keep a stable relationship!"

"Calm down, sugar." Richard says, calmly.

"Don't call me that!" Amber yells even louder, "You and that dog should walk away from our table!"

Skyler eyes widen from the insult, turns sharply, and walks away from Amber. "See how she obeys so easily... just like a dog." Amber says with a satisfied smirk.

"She is a good girlfriend. Unlike you, sugar." Richard says bitterly and turns around following Skyler.

"I hate him," Courtney chimes.
