Charm

Chapter 1

I grabbed a cup of tea off the counter and took a sip of it. Heat rushed down my arms and a small smile formed on my face. I fixed my collar and started making my way out the door. Rain started falling against the concrete.
"Not again," I fetched out my umbrella and started running to the coffee shop.

"You're late again Jesse," Mrs.Loraton was wiping the counters and whistling.
"I'm so sorry."
"Third time this month, last chance."
I sighed and went in the back to get my apron. It was the color of pink salmon.

As I walked back to the counter, I could see people flooding into the cafe. All complaining about the weather. To be honest, I love rain. Maybe I say that because I'm always gloomy. I don't like the sun, it makes me hot and sweaty. But rain on the other hand, it creates a unique sound hitting the window.

My shift was over and I started walking back home. Well, I guess technically you can't really call it a home. It's a one bedroom complex and there is one window. The view is the best part of the whole "house". You can see all the tall buildings and people walking their dogs on the streets.

I grabbed my glasses and started doing homework. I don't understand why school gives you homework. Like seven hours of study was not enough. It's pointless. On the other hand, it does give you practice. But it takes up 2082 hours of your life...yikes.

The next morning, I could hear my alarm clock ringing. Sending bullets into my head. I smacked the top of it and started getting ready for school. As I was leaving, I grabbed an apple on the way out.

I got into math class and sat down. No one ever dared to sit next to me. No, I'm not good enough.

"Hello class, today we will be-", Mr.Gardener was cut off by the loud sound of the door opening. A tall boy came in holding a pile of binders. His dark hair swooped over his face, his tan skin was glowing under the light.

"Daniel, I'm new," the boy looked down and swallowed hard.
"Welcome to my class Dan. Why don't you have a seat next to Jesse?" He pointed his finger and Daniel started making his way towards me. He looked at me and gave me a harsh look. I turned my head away and sighed. This will be fun.
