Chapter 17

The eye was glowing ever brighter now, a bright green shining through the gem. As Daniel looked into my eyes his eyes were bright as well.
"Jesse your eyes!" He whispered.
"You should look at yours!" I touched my face with my hands and freaked out. I never had green eyes in my life, only brown boring ones.
"You're changing." The words escaped his mouth and he grabbed my hand, running outside.
I started feeling hair poke through my skin, my teeth felt sharper and my hands were no longer hands, they were paws. I groaned at the pain and then at that moment there I was, a wolf.
Daniel of course changed himself and then we stood there, silence.
"Why...why am I like this?" I shouted.
"Jesse I told you, your father-"
"I know! I never signed up for this." I cut him off and started walking towards the forest.
"Jesse", he started walking behind me.
"What will my mom say when she sees a fury beast in her kitchen? I don't think it will be a positive thing!" I yelled and groaned.
"She knows." He spit out and walked in front of me, stopping.
"What?" I asked confused.
"She knows about your father and she knows that you are supposed to change. But she doesn't know when. Today is the day." He sighed and looked down.
I thought for a moment, and then an idea sparked my mind, "C-can I see my dad?"
He turned to look at me and shook his head, "It will be too dangerous."
"How? How will it be?"
"Jesse, if the reservation will know you are a werewolf, then the vampires will know as well."
"But Daniel, I already know Marco, he's a vampire." I spoke out and he shook his head.
"Jesse that's different, he's weak. He will never be able to hurt us. There are those vampires that can kill us in one bite."
"I don't care, I'll do what it takes to see my father."
He stood next to me and leaned his fury head on mine, "I don't want you to get hurt."
"But I won't get hurt Daniel."
He stood there for a moment and then spoke, "Fine."
A large smile spread across my face, "Thank you."
He shook his head and sighed, "But."
"There always has to be a but," I groaned.
"I'll have to train you, well, actually my dad can."
"The chief?" My eyes widened and I could feel sweat building up.
"Former...chief." He added.
"I mean, I guess we can try it, but don't blame me if I make 100+ mistakes."
"I know, you are a newbie at this," he laughed and I pushed him laughing as well.
"Well this was all unexpected you know?" I said and he started walking and I followed.
"I'll teach you how to hunt, I'm the best hunter." He grinned and stood up tall.
"Alright Mr.I am better than everyone." We both laughed and he led me deeper into the forest.
"Stand here, let me show you how it's done." I nodded my head and stood behind an old tree covered in moss.
He stretched and started standing low. He crept behind a rabbit standing in the middle of no where and pranced on top of it. He bit into the rabbits neck and picked it up with his teeth. When he walked over to me I could feel tears building up.
"What's the matter?" He mumbled, still holding the rabbit in his mouth.
"You killed an innocent rabbit," I choked out.
"Wolf swings," he said softly and I stopped crying.
"What is that?"
"Remember when I would be pissed one minute and happy another? Those are wolf swings. That's what you are experiencing right now. Females and males have different wolf swings."
I nodded my head taking in this information, "You know you will have to teach me all of this?"
"I know," he smiled and stood next to me.
All of a sudden a vampire flew out of a tree and attacked Daniel. I stood there not knowing what to do, fear and anger was building up.
Daniel groaned in pain after the vampire bit his arm and I attacked it. I pinned its arms down and growled in its face. The vampire quickly flew away and I looked at Daniel, laying there emotionless.
