Charm

Chapter 2

"Class, we will be working on a very big project for two weeks. You will be working on it with your shoulder partner." Mr.Gardener said as he passed out papers. I groaned and covered my face with my hands. I looked over at Daniel and I could see him staring at me with his deep green eyes. I turned my head away quickly, praying that he didn't notice.

When class was over, Daniel practically ran out of the classroom. I walked down the hall and stopped by my locker. I grabbed my lunch bag and went to the library. I started to eat my apples and read my book. My mind couldn't stop thinking about Daniel. He was so...interesting. I mean, he was staring at me, but why? Whatever, let me get these thoughts out of my head, I'm not important.

The rest of the day ran by quickly and it was already time to go home. As I was driving home, I could see that someone new was moving into a house that has been on sale for about two years. There were lots of trucks and boxes and men. They were all bringing the big brown boxes inside the house.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Daniel. Oh god...he's moving here? One more problem to deal with.

He must have noticed me too, because he started to walk over to me.

"Jesse", he nodded his head.
"Daniel..."
"So you live here too, huh?"
"Since '02"
He gave me a smile and chuckled.
"I just got here a few hours ago. I had to leave the native tribe I was in because of some 'issues'. Oh and by the way, I am sorry we got off at a bad start. It's just my mood swings-"
"It's fine", I cut him off.
"Ok that's very good, I would really like to know you better."
I couldn't contain my smile and a huge grin spread across my face.
"Um, the project." I quickly changed the subject.
"Right, can we work on it in your house? My dad doesn't...he doesn't like visitors."
I looked at him curiously and slowly nodded my head "um...okay."
"Sounds great! 4 o clock? I'm going to help unpack right now."
"Yeah, go ahead." I swallowed and I could see him run off. Again. Now that I thought about it, he ran off a little too quick. Was he a runner?

I got back inside the house and started preparing my self for Daniels visit. After all, I don't want to think of me as a hobo. I cleaned my room and got dressed into something more presentable. I looked out the window and I could see him arguing with a plump man. Kinda figured it was his dad. Daniel was holding up some charm and his father quickly snatched it away from him. Daniel yelled some more but then just gave in and went towards my house.
