As I was getting ready for school, I remembered that today was the day. Daniel asked me to go out with him some place misterious. The thought of that made my heart flutter. Heat spread through my cheeks when I realized that this was my very first date; if of course you even call it one. Are we...a thing now? I mean if he imprinted on me...and if he asked me out. All of these questions whined for answers, but I just couldnt seem to find them.

I got in my car and drove to the place of "hopes and dreams", school. School was miserable for me, ever since my dad left my "family", everyone made fun of me. It all started in 5th grade. I could hear my parents fighting in another room, saying cruel things to eachother. I couldnt bear it anymore so I went outside, only seeing my dad walking out the door. My mom was on her knees on the floor, crying. I could see pain in her eyes watching my dad go. A week later he had found a new lady friend. I saw them making out on the end of the street and it was the worst thing that has happened to me. People at school made fun of it for me, fatherless little girl. They didnt like the way I dressed either, since it was only my mom working, supporting the both of us, there wasnt much to wear. I remember only having a couple of shirts and jeans in middle school. I only had one pair of shoes and they were all torn up thanks to my neighbors dog.

Highschool got a bit better for me. Emphasis on a bit. I was still bullied sadly, no one cared for me. One time, a popular girl came up to me and yelled nasty, mean things to me. She came over with her group and beat me, leaving me in a ditch. I was crying for help but no one was there, even my own mother. She has changed since my dad left too. She is always at work, working full time. Trying to support us. I have had a rough life but I chose to look past it. Afterall, I met Daniel and everything changed.

When I went into my first period class, I felt my heart stop. I met eyes with Daniel and he gave me a gentle smile. A huge grin spread across my face as I sat down next to him.

"Good morning Jess", Daniel said in a low voice.

"Good morning to you too", I smiled and put my hand on his.

Daniels fingers intertwined with mine and I could feel electricity running through my fingers.

"Are you ready for tonight?" His eyes were smiling, along with his mouth.

I nodded my head and swallowed. Butterflies were building up in my stomach and I blushed.

"You are too cute," He laughed a rich laugh and held onto my hand tighter.

I was not used to this hand-holding thing. The closest I have ever gotten to a boy is if we accidenlty touched elbows in class. This was a pretty new change for me. However, change can be good, and this one was a good change.
