Charm

Chapter 16

I've never ever been in a hospital. I've never broken a bone or did anything that would cause me to be in a hospital. I guess everyone has their firsts. The last time I went to a hospital was when my grandpa was dying and I held him there, watching him go.

"M'mam, someone's here to see you m'mam", the nurse came in with her clipboard and opened the door revealing Daniel.
"Daniel?" I squinted my eyes and he came closer to me.
"How are you feeling?" He held my hand in his and massaged my fingers.
"I'm not sure" I let out a weak laugh and he laughed along.
"When I heard you got in a car accident with that cold blooded animal, I got so angry." He looked away for a minute and tightened his jaw, "I wanted to kill him."
I nodded my head and swallowed hard, "There was just a drunk driver, it's not his fault." I said and Daniel widened his eyes.
"There was JUST a drunk driver? Just? Jesse you almost died. I would have to live with this guild of not protecting the one that I love." He sighed and looked up at me with his green piercing eyes.
"Daniel, I'm fine. I'm still alive."
"Thank goodness you are, I don't know what I would do."
We sat in the room for a couple of minutes surrounded by beeping noises and shuffling feet.
"You're coming home today," he smiled and tightened his grip.
I smiled back and mouthed the words, "Finally". He laughed a bit and stood up.
"Let me call a nurse over and we can leave this place." I nodded my head approving.

"Ok M'mam you can go now," the nurse came in after five minutes.
I slowly started getting out of the hospital bed and Daniel came over to me and picked me up. A small gasp escaped my mouth and he chuckled.
"I can take it from here," Daniel waved his hand at the nurse and she gave him an irritated glare.

"Here we are," Daniel drove up to his house and my jaw dropped. It was made entirely out of wood and I gasped, "Wow."
"I know, my dad wanted something that reminded him of our reserve," he sighed and got out of the car and opened my door. I slowly got out and we started walking to the door.
He fetched his key out and opened the front door slowly, inside there were large lights surrounding the ceiling and animal heads lining the walls.
"Don't get too freaked out," he laughed started walking.
I followed him and we got to his kitchen. Suddenly I remembered the charm I had in my pocket and took it out.
"Daniel," he swung his head around and his eyes opened wide at the sight of the charm.
"Jesse where did you get that?" He asked concerned.
"I um, I found it in my pocket." He nodded his head and paced back and forth.
He pulled out the same charm out of his pocket and showed it to me, "Jesse we have the same charm."
"What?" I compared the two and he was right. They were the exact same charms.
"What does this mean? Why was it in my pocket?"
He closed his eyes and tightened his jaw, "I've been hiding something from you." He finally said and I turned my head curiously.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"It's about your father...Well, do you know how he left you? He is back in our reservation. He left you to protect you. He didn't want the vampires to find you. This is why we had to leave our reservation, I was going insane because I couldn't see you.Your mom is human but he is a werewolf. Jesse, soon you will be one too."
I dropped my charm and the eye started glowing.
