Charm

Chapter 4

My head was spinning as I was running home. I took a couple of breaks so that I could catch my breath. When I got home I could see that my mom was at work so I ran up to my room and shut the door. I slid down against the door, sitting on the ground with my head on my knees.
"What just happened." His words kept running through my head like a movie.
I lay there for a couple of minutes, recollecting myself. I got up and walked over to my computer. As soon as the screen opened, I looked up werewolves.

I sat in my chair reading about them for hours. I even forgot to do my homework. Suddenly I heard something hit my bedroom window. Daniel was standing outside, I could see his green eyes glowing in the moonlight.
"Daniel?" I opened the window and looked out. He jumped up onto a tree branch and our eyes met.
"Uh, hey", he laughed a bit.
"You have a lot of explaining to do", I smiled and bumped his shoulder.
"Yeah, I know..." He looked down and couldn't help but smile back. He had bright white teeth that could light up the whole world.
"Imprinting...what does that mean?" I asked.
"Well...the first day I saw you, I felt heat in my body. It was like there was a halo around you, you were glowing. You are always in my head and I am always wondering if you are okay. This is why I have been having these mood swings, I'm changing. Every second of my life." He swallowed and looked up. "It's not the earth holding me up, it's you."
I could feel butterflies flying in my stomach. I couldn't feel anything.
"How did you become like this? Like a wolf?" I covered my forehead with my hand.
"It runs in the family. At age 17, you start to develop stronger senses. Then at 18, you can shape shift back and forth from human to wolf. At first, you can't control it. It can happen anywhere at any time." He chuckled, "it's embarrassing".
"No, no...that's...amazing", I looked up at him, at his beautiful face. His eyes were smiling. It caused me to feel like I was floating.
"If I'm not near you, I go mad." He said and tightened his fists.
"But I barely-"
"No Jesse, we will get to know each other. You will know everything about me and I will know everything about you...not that I don't already know..." He cut me off.
"You what?!" I asked wish a shocked expression.
"I can read your mind." He whispered and pointed to his head.
I covered my face with my hands and sighed. This is way too much to take in, in one...day.
"Trust me, you will be safe. I will treat you well. " he smiled.
"But there was no time for me to think, I didn't even have a word in this, I-"
"You think about me a lot...remember? I can read your mind. All your thoughts." He laughed.
I shook my head and laughed.
"That's kinda creepy"
"Maybe"
We both smiled at each other and he jumped back down on the grass.
"Good night", he waved his hand and I waved back. I watched as he ran back into the forest, as a wolf.
