Happier than ever

Four years have passed and Meredith still went to see her therapist once every two weeks, just to clear her mind. To deal with some stuff that had happened. Some sessions were with Ellis, who also went to solo therapy to deal with everything

Today was one of those sessions they shared so Meredith walked out of the hospital, Ellis holding onto her hand when they bumped into Miranda

"Hey Meredith, Hi Ellis" Bailey said but was still using sign language so it was easier for Ellis. A year ago she finally got fitted with hearing aids. Even if her hearing was so badly damaged that the hearing aids couldn't process everything for her, the little girl stayed positive

"Hi!" Ellis giggled, her hands moving at the same time as her mouth

"How are you doing?" Miranda asked with a big smile

"Good! Mommy and I are going home" Ellis told Bailey slowly but her voice loud

"Ellie, don't yell baby, we're inside" Meredith laughed as she reminded her daughter

"Whoops" Ellis giggled which made Miranda chuckle

"How are you, Grey?" She asked

"I'm good" Meredith replied honestly "There's a dinner party tonight at our house, would you like to come? You can take Ben" Meredith proposed

"Sounds good. We'll be there" Miranda smiled and rubbed Meredith's shoulder before walking away

"Let's go home, sweetie or daddy will be worried" Meredith laughed and walked to the car

When the two of them arrived at the house, she saw Zola and Maggie hanging up some decorations. Ellis waved at Zola and quickly ran to find her dad and brother

"Hi Zozo" Meredith kissed her daughter's cheek

"Where's Layla?" Meredith asked

"Winston went to lay her down for her nap. She was getting cracky" Maggie laughed

"Kids" Meredith chuckled as she walked to the Amelia, Link and Scout to say hi before finally finding her husband and son

"Here you are" Derek laughed and pulled her in his arms

"Hi Bails" Meredith said before turning her attention to her husband as she was her youngest two kids running away

"How did it go?" He asked

"It was okay. I think she really likes Joanna" Meredith smiled

"That's good" Derek breathed

"Yeah" Meredith closed her eyes for a minute as her head was resting on his shoulder as her hand was resting on his chest, right above his heart. The beating of it calmed her down as she was close to falling asleep "Miranda and Ben are coming too" Meredith quietly said

"That's good. Mark and Lexie are coming over once Charlotte is awake" Derek kissed

"Poor Lexie.. Having to attend a party while being 7 months pregnant isn't fun at all" Meredith sighed

"Well at least Jo is here in case she's going into labor" Derek laughed

"I can't wait to see Luna" Meredith giggled

"You're spoiling her way too bad" Derek laughed

"I'm not!" Meredith chuckled

"You so are" Derek laughed "But it's okay. Alex spoiled our kids too even if he's only Ellis' godfather" Derek laughed

"It's payback" Meredith laughed

"It is" Derek laughed

"I should take a shower and get dressed" Meredith said as she smelled herself

"I can join you if you want? Help you to.. clean yourself" He smirked

"Oh yes? Doctor Shepherd wants to help.. me?" Meredith laughed before running up the stairs, immediately followed by Derek

They stripped their clothes and stepped under the warm water

...

"That was amazing" Meredith smiled as she collapsed on the bed, her hair still wrapped in the towel

"It was" Derek said before collapsing next to her

"Mommy! Daddy!" They heard Bailey yelling for them

"We're coming, buddy" Derek replied

"Aunt Amy needs someone to help her with the grill" Bailey yelled back

"Okay, I'm coming now" Derek laughed and quickly changed in some clothes before running out

Meredith sighed as she closed her eyes for a minute before pushing herself up and getting herself dressed too. She unwrapped the towel and brushed her hair before she moved back downstairs to her family when Lexie and Mark walked into the house

"Hey!" They said as they walked in

"Oh my god, your belly grew over night?" Meredith gasped and started to rub it

"Aunt Mer-ith" Charlotte smiled

"Hi Charlotte, how are you" Meredith lifted the girl in her arms

"Good!" She laughed

"The kids are in the playroom, should I take you there?" Meredith smiled

"Ya!" Charlotte smiled

"Thanks!" Lexie mouthed as she could finally sit down without having to worry about a way too energetic tolder

"Come on, Scout is here, Bailey, Zola and Ellis too. Luna is on her way and Layla is asleep" Meredith told the little girl as they made their way over to the playroom

"Charlotte!" The kids yelled

Charlotte ran over to Bailey and Zola who were playing video games. Meredith noticed Ellis was reading in her book and slowly walked over to her

"Hey baby" Meredith smiled even if her daughter was now 9 and didn't liked to be called baby anymore but she didn't respond so Meredith softly placed her hand down on Ellis' arm to show she was there

"Oh-" Ellis breathed and turned her hearing aids back on

"So you were taking some quiet time, heh?" Meredith giggled

"It was loud here and I wanted to read a bit" Ellis smiled at her mother

"It's okay. Are you having fun?" Meredith asked

"Yeah" Ellis smiled back "We're gonna play just dance in a bit"

"Oh, exciting! You should ask uncle Mark to join you" Meredith laughed

"That would be a disaster" Zola joined them

"Agreed" Bailey laughed

...

During the barbeque everything went perfect. They were able to enjoy the nice weather while everyone was drinking or eating while talking. Meredith and Derek were deep in conversation when Zola walked up to them

"Daddy, can we go fishing tomorrow?" She asked

"Of course. We should ask if Bailey and Ellis wanna join us" Derek smiled

"Mommy, do you wanna come with us?" Zola asked with a soft smile

"Of course" Meredith agreed. She had learned to let go. What happened all those years ago was just a stupid accident where no one was to blame "I would love to join"
