a few minutes later afterwards Ellis wanted to go colour up in dereks office so he took her up there leaving Meredith alone. as Meredith sat alone in her room she thought about some things and then one of the nurses brought her dinner and gave her a fork then left. she ate a bit of the food but wasn't that hungry because she had already eaten. she picked up a napkin and the fork and wiped it off and pulled up her sleeve and used the fork to stab herself a few times and a few blood drops fell onto the bedsheets.

A few tears dropped but not from the pain of her wrist but from what happened to her. She picked up the napkin again and wiped off the blood and placed the fork behind her pillow, pulled her sleeve back down and ate a little bit more food with the spoon.

Afterwards, the nurse came back and took the dishes away as she laid back and tried to for some more sleep. After a bit, Derek came back with Ellis sleeping in his arms and he laid Ellis down in front of Meredith and she pulled her arm around Ellis' waist and relaxed.

Derek pulled the blanket up a little bit more over Meredith and Ellis and as he pulled the covers up to Meredith's waist his hand brushed up against her arm and her sleeve went up a bit and he saw a small red dot. He pulled her sleeve up a bit she still slept and found a few more and he looked confused as to whether or not she did it or if it was an accident.

He decided to ignore and not believe that she did it herself and fluffed her pillow a bit until she felt something like him and he reached his hand back and pulled out a fork.

He realized it was Meredith that made the red marks on her hand and decided he would talk about it to her later. He leaned down and kissed Ellis on the forehead and did the same to Meredith and then left the room.

He brought the fork into the cafeteria for it to be washed and went back to find Addison. He found Addison standing outside of the hospital and walked up to her.

"Hey," she said as she noticed Derek was standing there

"Hey" frowned as he looked down to the ground as he started raining.

"Is everything okay?" She asked as she noticed he was upset

"No, it's Meredith," he said as he looked up with tears in his eyes

"Is she okay?" Addison asked worriedly

"I thought she was getting better because she's getting more comfortable with me," he said as a tear fell from his cheek

"What do you mean?" Addison asked

"She asked me to help her change and I did so I thought she was getting better, but when I brought Ellis back into her room I saw there were a few red marks on my wrist when my hand brushed up against her and I pulled her sleeve and I saw a few more and I decided to ignore it and when I went to move the pillow a bit I found a fork behind it," he said as his eyes filled with more tears.

"She what?" Addison asked in disbelief

"She's hurting herself" he replied

"How bad is it?" She asked

"I don't really know, but if we leave it alone it will get worse. Earlier today I noticed she threw away both her breakfast and lunch so I went out a bought her and Ellis something to eat and she asked me if it would make her fat"

"And what did you say?"

"I don't tell her that it wouldn't and that she would need to gain some weight eventually and she said that Finn told her she needed to lose weight"

"So she thinks she needs to be thinner"

"Yea, but I told you that she didn't eat"

"What about Ellis? How's she doing?" She asked as she started to think about ways to get Meredith not to hurt herself.

"She's good, she's still her happy self" Derek smiled

"Ha, she been eating well?"

"Yea, she's a normal kid"

"That's good, it's bad enough that Meredith is going through all of this we just need to make sure Ellis doesn't start to get affected by any of it," she said

"Yea" he sighed as he went back into the building and into Meredith's room as she still slept. As Meredith slept Ellis started to stir a bit and opened her eyes, sat up then looked at Derek.

"Hey sweetie" Derek whispered as he saw that she was awake. She didn't respond and crawled out of the bed and walked over to Derek as she rubbed her eyes and climbed onto his lap.

"Are you still tired?" He asked her as he brushed the strands of he out of her face as she laid her lead on his chest as she nodded her head in response.

"I'm getting tired too, it's getting late do you wanna sleep here or do you wanna go back to mommy?" He asked her.

"Me and mommy Wanna go home" she whispered

"I know you and mommy wanna go home, but we have to wait a little bit until mommy gets better and you two can go home, okay?" He said to her

"K wanna stay here"

"Okay," he whispered as he leaned back on the chair as he held Ellis in his arms.

"Goodnight Ellie" he whispered

"Goodnight daddy" she whispered back making him look down at her shocked as she soon fell asleep. He figured that it was an accident and that she said it because she was tired.

A nurse came in to check on everything and had brought an extra blanket as he had asked and he covered Ellis with it and fell asleep with her on the chair.
