Meredith was laying in bed trying to check some sleep until Ellis got back. As she was just about to fall asleep when she heard another knock at the door making her jump which she was honestly getting tired of doing, she hated flinching at the slightest of noises.
"Hi, I'm doctor Addison Montgomery" a tall red-haired woman smiled as she walked into the room
"I've never seen you at this hospital," Meredith said confused
"I know, I know I'm new here I just flew in from New York" she smiled as she picked up Merediths chart
"Oh, may I ask why?" She said
"A friend of mine actually, he called me saying he needed my help with a new friend of his," she said going through Meredith's chart shocked at everything she saw
"Oh" Meredith sighed as she leaned back
"I hope I didn't disturb you, did I?" Addison asked
"No, not at all" Meredith smiled a bit
"Tell me if I'm wrong, but do you know Derek shepherd?" Addison asked as she sat on the side of the bed
"Yes" Meredith whispered
"He's a good guy you know"
"I know, I know he's a good guy and I know he's good with my daughter and everything it's just- I don't know how to be around him without..." she said
"Without being scared of him, I get it" Addison smiled lightly
"You do?" Meredith asked
"I do, I was in the same position you were in a few years ago I just didn't have a kid back then"
"And you do now?"
"I do, a little girl named Ella" Addison smiled
"That a beautiful name" Meredith smiled back
"Yea, I was going through a hard time with my ex and eventually his drinking got bad and it came to a point where he couldn't come anywhere near me without doing something that would put me in the hospital"
"How did you get out of it?"
"A help of a friend" Addison smiled "we were gods friends when we met and then after a bit, he found out about what my at the time husband was doing and he wanted to help me, but I wouldn't really let because I deep down still thought he loved me and one day he hurt me so bad I had to have surgery and everything was just terrible and I didn't want to talk to anyone and I pushed them all away, but I eventually tried letting my friend back in, I'm gonna tell you the truth it's wasn't easy every little noise scared the daylights out of me just as I thought he was coming back, or if someone dropped a pin, and it was hard to let him comfort me because the arm rubbing and the hugging it just reminds you of.."
"Rape" Meredith said "it reminds you of rape" she added
"Yea, none of this is going to be easy and I'm sure you know that, I can tell you one thing if you want it bad enough you can get out of this and live a good happy life with your daughter and find someone who knows how much you're really worth," Addison said as slowly reached and held Meredith's hand
"So are you with me?" Addison asked as she felt Meredith squeeze her hand a bit
"I guess" Meredith whispered as she smiled a bit
"Okay, but I have heard Derek had really wanted to see you ever since you got back" adds on said as she looked towards Derek and immediately looked back at his charts when she did.
"Yea, I wanna see him too, but I just don't know how to without being scared and the only thing there is to talk about is what happened and I don't think I wanna talk about that"
"Talking about it will make you feel better, it'll be hard to talk about, but it will help" Addison smiled a bit and walked out of the room and walked over to Derek.
"She wants to see you," Addison said as she walked over to him
"What?" He said as he pretended to be busy with the charts
"Derek, I know you were staring at us the entire time, she wants to see you," she said again
"Meredith?" He asked
"No Michelle Obama, if of course Meredith, who else would I be talking about?!" Addison said getting frustrated
"Okay, okay, but what if she gets scared of me again?" He frowned
"Then you smooth her and let her know you're not here to hurt her," Addison said
"Fine" he sighed
"I know you want to her just let her know you care about her"
"Yea," he said and then slowly walked over to Meredith's room and slowly opened the door as he saw her head turn quickly as she heard him come in.
"Hey" he whispered as he slowly and quietly shut the door. She didn't answer she only shook as tears filled her eyes.
"It's okay Meredith, I'm not gonna hurt you, okay? I'm just here to see if you're okay" he said softly As her shaking slowly started to get worse
"Meredith, it's okay, nobody in the hospital will hurt you and the person who did hurt you is gone, he's gone he can't come here anymore, okay?" Derek said softly as he crouched on his knees at the side of her bed so she wouldn't see him as tall, big, stronger than her.
"I'm not gonna hurt you, ever," he said whispered
"I know" she whispered as tears streamed down her face
"Good, I know you're scared and I'm not judging you in any way and I won't, I just want to help you get better, okay?" He asked
"Okay" she whispered
"You can sit in the chair" she whispered after a few seconds of silence
"Okay" he smiled a bit and sat in the chair
"How do you feel?" He whispered
"Not good" she whispered as her hands started to shake
"I know, but let's take your mind off it, how were you're talking with Addison? Did you like her?" He asked still in a soft quiet voice so he wouldn't startle her in any way
"Yea, she seems nice" Meredith smiled a bit as she continued to look out the window
"Where's Ellis? I haven't seen her in a bit"
"My mom took her to get breakfast," Meredith said
"Meredith, can you look at me?" He said as she slowly looked towards him
"I care about you okay," he said and she didn't answer him as her hands started to shake again
"Let me see you're hand, I'm not got going to hurt you, I just want to comfort you to make your hand stop shaking okay? I'll be very gentle" he said as he held his hand about and she looked into his eyes for a few seconds as her eyes were still filled with tears as she slowly reached her hand out hand out and placed it in his as her hands started to shake more as she did this.
"I'm trusting you," Meredith said waiting for Derek not to do anything as she looked at him as a tear fell down her cheek
"Thank you" he whispered as he slowly closed his warm hand around her cold one as he held her hand gently and rubbed his thumb over her knuckles as she slowly started to calm down.
