Meredith finished PT and waited for Derek to arrive, once Derek arrived he grabbed both handles of the wheelchair and pushed her out of the room. he pushed her into her room. he helped her out of the wheelchair and into the bed, he pulled the covers over her and sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Today Is your first ultrasound since you woke up, how do you feel about it?" he said as he fluffed her pillow.

"I don't know how to feel about it, how far along was I when I fell into a coma?" she asked leaning back into the pillows.

"you weren't showing when you fell asleep, but I think your around four or five months right now" he moved to sit down next to her.

"Okay," she sighed.

"Addison will be here in a few minutes for your ultrasound, do you want me to leave?"

"can you stay? you don't have to if you don't want to but-"

"of course, I'll stay" he smiled and kissed her on the lips.

a few hours later Addison knocked before walking into the room with the ultrasound machine. she pushed the machine over to Meredith's bed.

"so Meredith, are you ready to see your baby?" she smiled.

"yea" Meredith smiled a bit while sighing.

she pulled up her gown and pulled the covers up to her waist, Addison squeezes some of the cool gel on her belly before putting the wand on it and moving it around.

"there it is" Addison smiled as she pointed to the small baby.

Meredith smiled as she saw the small baby on the screen.

"How far along is she?" Derek asked.

"she is about five months" Addison answered.

"that's a long time though," Meredith said.

"yes, it is which means you only have four months left of your pregnancy, would you like to know the gender?"

Meredith nodded her head yes, the one thing she was scared about having another baby was the gender she didn't want a boy because she was scared it was going to end up like his father, but if the baby was a girl then it wouldn't worry her so much.

"Congratulations, it's a girl" Addison smiled at Meredith and Derek.

Meredith leaned her head back onto the bed and let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. when Addison said the baby was a girl it felt like a ton of weight was lifted off her shoulders "thank goodness" she whispered sitting up.

"it's a little girl" Derek smiled leaning in to press a soft kiss to her lips.

"now Meredith, I know you don't like to eat but now that your pregnant you have to eat more than you did before, for both you and your baby, okay?" Addison said raising her eyebrow at Meredith.

"yes" Meredith replied, there was no promising she was going to eat but there was no way she was going to starve her unborn child, she would eat but only enough for the baby to be full.

Addison left the room while Derek helped Meredith get comfortable back in bed.

"I think it might be time to tell Ellis about the baby, we know it's a girl and I know she'll be happy about having a little sister so I think I should tell her"

"she would be happy, but I think she would also want to help with the name" Derek smiled as he pulled the covers to her waist.

"she definitely would but she would also ask every day when she's going to be born" she sighed.

"are you okay?" he asked sitting in the chair next to the bed.

"yea, I think I'll be okay I just don't know how I'm going to raise two kids in a hospital"

"once you finish physical therapy you'll be discharged and I'll help you find a new place to live, and by that time it will be just in time for the baby to be born," he told her.

"how much more physical therapy?" she asked.

"a few more weeks" he answered.

"wake me up in a few more weeks" she groaned before lying down and going to sleep.

"I'll wake you up in the morning, it's getting late," he said getting up and kissing her cheek, sitting back down and pulling out a book from his messenger bag and started reading while Meredith slept.

after a few hours, Bailey came into the room and saw Meredith sleeping in bed and Derek asleep with a book on his chest, she rolled her eyes picked up the book, and closing it set it down on the side table before shaking him awake.

"mm, what?" he groaned.

"shepherd, wake up and go to sleep in a bed, you've been sleeping on this chair since Meredith got here"

"I don't want her to wake up alone In an empty room" he groaned sitting up.

"she won't I'll be here, and you need to go get her daughter she's with Addison and her daughter in Addison's office"

"who is going to stay with her, don't let it be a nurse she hates nurses," he said while standing up.

"I'll stay with her," she said sitting in the seat Derek was sitting in before.

"page me if anything changes or if she wakes up," he said before leaving the room.

he walked down the hallways to Addison's office, got to her office door, and knocked a few times. he heard Addison say "come in" he opened the door and walked in. he saw Ellis and Ella colouring at a small table in the corner of the room.

"Daddy!" Ellis exclaimed running to him when she saw Derek walk in.

"Hey!" he smiled crouching down hugging her back as she hugged his legs.

"where's mommy? can we go see her?" she smiled pulling back from the hug.

"We can, but mommy's sleeping right now but she'll wake up soon. go say goodbye to Ella and Addison" he told her.

Ellis pulled away from the hug, hugging both Ella and Addison saying goodbye before leaving with Derek.

Derek took Ellis to Meredith's room to see that Meredith was already awake and eating.

"Mommy!" Ellis yelled running into the room.

"Hi, Ellie" Meredith smiled sweetly as Ellis climbed into bed with her.

"Daddy said you were sleeping," Ellis said while snuggling into Meredith's side.

"well I'm not sleeping anymore" she smiled. "how would you feel about getting a little sister?" she asked looking at Ellis whose eyes lit up at the mention of a little sister.

"a little sister?!" she squealed.

"yes you're getting a little sister"

"thank you!' she exclaimed hugging Meredith tightly as Meredith kissed the top of her head.
