"Joey took her up there to propose, didn't he Scott?" Chris sat with his brother in his living room thinking about Alexis. He hadn't heard anything from her since Christmas; that was more than two weeks ago now. He had no idea if she ever opened his book or read it. He groaned at Scott's hesitation. "Just be honest, please."

Scott sighed, "he did. I'm sorry Chris."

Chris shook his head, "she could say no." He prayed she said no. He needed her to be his. If she wasn't his, he didn't know what he was going to do.

He laughed, "what makes you think she'll say no. Wait," he sat up, "have you guys been fooling around? Chris!"

"No! We haven't. Not once." Chris sighed, leaning his head back on the couch, "but she loves me. I know she does. She's going to choose me."

Scott sighed, "if that's what you need to tell yourself. And if she comes back engaged?"

He groaned, "she won't!" He went to my room, laying on his bed as he stared at the ceiling. He thought about Alexis and their chance meeting in the coffee shop. He wasn't even really sure how he ended up there. He was just driving around and saw the shop and thought he'd try it. And there he met the most beautiful girl with blue eyes. Blue eyes that made him feel like home when he looked into them. He knew she felt the same. Even if she says yes, he knew she would only say yes because he was an idiot and messed everything up. He prayed he didn't miss his chance.

Alexis knocked nervously on Chris's door after returning home from Sweden. She needed to talk to him about the trip, about what happened. And about what she decided. She soon came face to face with an obviously nervous Chris. She saw him look at her hands that were covered with gloves, "Chris. We need to talk."

He nodded, stepping out of the way for her to enter.

"Are you here alone?"

Chris nodded once more as she removed her coat, hesitating at the gloves. He felt his heart sink to his stomach as she kept the gloves on, following him into the house to the living room. "Lexi. Please. Just tell me."

She sighed, sitting on the coffee table across from him on the couch, "why did you give me that book Chris?"

He shook his head, "because I told you; I keep telling you. I love you Alexis. I'm in love with you. I know you feel the same. Did Joey propose?"

She hesitated, but nodded, "he did." She sighed, looking down at her hands, removing the gloves, setting them next to her on the table.

Chris watched her remove the gloves, feeling as if time had stopped for a moment as he looked down at the diamond that inhabited her left hand, making him groan. "Lex."

"I'm sorry Chris. When I thought about it, yeah. I love you. A part of me is in love with you Chris. But we hardly know each other. We've never even slept together. Joey knows me, Joey loves me. And I love him. I'm so sorry." She looks up to see tears welling in his eyes making hers do the same.

He shook his head as he leaned towards her, placing his hands on her legs, "you aren't married yet. It isn't too late until you're married. It's not my fate to give up, I know it can't be."

She groaned, standing up from the table, "I'm sorry." She watched him stand up as she leaned up, kissing him on the cheek. She felt herself linger as she kissed him again, her mouth moving towards his on its own until she felt his lips on hers. She moaned softly as she felt him bring his hand to her cheek, the other on her back as he pressed her body to his. She finally pulled away, looking at him.

"I want you Lexi. Give me a chance. You want me. I know you do." He kept his hand on her back as he watched her only nod, "I need to hear the words Lex. Tell me what you want."

"I want you to take me to your room Chris." She heard him moan as he removed his shirt before lifting her to him as she wrapped her legs around him. His lips never left hers as she felt him carry her to his bedroom, setting her gently on his bed. She removed her shirt as she watched him make his way to her, kissing her stomach up to her neck, making her moan. They were interrupted by his phone ringing.

Chris groaned, standing up to see his manager calling, "I'll be right back."

She watched him leave the room with his phone as she looked up at the ceiling. What was she doing? She knew she wanted what he wanted. She wanted to have sex with him, more than anything. But she had said yes to Joey. She groaned, standing up and putting her shirt back on. She slipped out of his room, grabbing her coat and leaving the house before he came back.

Chris was on the phone when her heard the front door close. He went to the door, opening it to see her pulling out of his driveway. He saw her look at him once more before driving away, probably forever. He hung up the phone. "Fuck!" He knew he had almost had her. She could have been his. He groaned, going back to the living room and putting on his shirt, finding the gloves she left.
