Alexis went to work for the week, trying not to think about the fact that she met Chris Evans over the weekend. She arrived back to her coffee shop on Saturday again at her normal time. Nora called her over to the counter as she entered, handing her a small box, "what is this?"

Nora smiled, "Chris came in and left this for you last Sunday. He told me to hold it for you today."

Alexis saw Nora wink at her as she accepted the box, "thanks. I'm gonna go sit down." She sat in her normal spot as she opened the box to find the same book she ruined the week before. She laughed, opening the book to see he had written on the inside cover.

"When you lose touch with inner stillness, you lose touch with yourself. When you lose touch with yourself, you lose yourself in the world."
Don't worry about being anyone but yourself Alexis. I like who you are. I couldn't have you reading that coffee stained book. This is my personal copy.
I hope to see you again soon. Keep in touch.
- CRE

She shook her head, seeing his number at the bottom of the book as Nora came up with her coffee.

"A book? Is that the one you ruined last week?"

She looked up at Nora and nodded, "yeah."

Nora smiled, "that's sweet."

She nodded again, looking back at the book, "it is. Yeah. Thanks Nora." When she finished her coffee she got up to get more, learning her lesson from the last week and leaving her book on the table. As she started to walk back, she almost collided with someone else, "I have terrible luck here."

He looked at her, laughing, "what do you mean?"

She shook her head, looking up at the man, "oh. I literally ran into someone last week here. At least I didn't spill my coffee on you."

He laughed, "yes, thank goodness. I'm Scott."

He offered his hand and she accepted, shaking his hand, "Alexis."

Scott motioned to her booth, "can I sit with you?"

She shrugged, "sure."

"I'm waiting for someone else, is that okay?"

Alexis smiled, "of course. I'm gonna go to the bathroom, I'll be right back." She saw him smile and nod as she left. When she returned he was sitting with an attractive blonde with brown eyes. She sat across from them, offering the blonde her hand, "hi. I'm Alexis."

"Rachel!"

Scott nudged the girl, "my brother's girlfriend. He's out of town and wanted us to get to know each other better."

Alexis nodded, "that's sweet."

Chris had just laid in bed when he got a call from his brother. "Scott, what's up?"

'Hey. Just calling to check in how it's going. And to let you know I went to that coffee shop you suggested.'

He smiled, thinking about the shop he met Alexis, "did you like it?"

'It was great. I went with Rachel and we met a girl there. Alexis. She was really nice.'

Chris jolted up to a seated position, "Alexis?"

Scott hesitated, 'yeah. Is there a problem? She didn't seem to know who I was, which was nice. I probably won't tell her for a while.'

He groaned silently in his head, "yeah. That's probably a good idea. And you took Rachel? How did you get along?"

'Yeah. She's great Chris. We're probably going to hang out with Alexis again sometime.'

He shook his head. How could he have told Scott to go to that coffee shop.

'Chris? You okay? You're quiet.'

He sighed, "yeah. Just tired. I'll talk to you later." Chris groaned when he hung up until he heard a ding, seeing a message from an unknown number. He smiled, seeing a gif of himself and a message from Alexis.

Alexis decided to text Chris before she went to bed. She watched an interview he filmed earlier in the day. There were now gifs of him flipping a microphone. She sent the gif to him with a message.

Alexis
Is this an anxiety thing, or a showing-off thing? -Lexi

She was about to set my phone down when I saw a message appear.

Chris
Well, probably a bit of both. LOL
I see you got your book then.

Alexis
I did. You didn't have to. Thank you.
It's good to see your phone in fact *does* work*.

Chris
LOL I told you it did.
I'll be back in a few days. Can I see you when I get home?

She smiled to herself, feeling her heart beginning to race.

Alexis
I'd like that.<

Chris
Good, I'll see you next Saturday for coffee?
I need to get to bed. Keep in touch.
Goodnight Lexi.

Alexis
Sounds perfect.
Night

She put her phone down, thinking about the chances of meeting Chris, especially in a coffee shop of all places.

Chris groaned, laying back on the bed as he received messages from Rachel. Why did he have to start dating someone right before he met Alexis? It felt like some sort of cosmic joke. He sat and talked to Alexis for over an hour and felt more in the hour than he did in the first month of dating Rachel. He knew he was treading dangerous waters now. But maybe Alexis and him could just be friends. He hoped...
