18 - mistake

Two months later 

The losers were at the quarry, relaxing in the sun. It had been two months since Richie and Eddie got back together and they were spending every day together, the group found it cute. 

Eddie and Richie are cuddled beside each other, Eddie's head on Richie's stomach as Richie plays with Eddie's hair, twirling the strands of hair around his finger as Eddie smiles. 

"Hey, Eds isn't it your birthday next week?" Richie asks, looking down at his boyfriend, 

"Yea, surprised you remember Chee".  He smiled, wrapping his arms around Richie's waist, breathing slowly 

"So Richie can't remember his homework but remembers Eddie's birthday, wow!" Stan said, rolling his eyes and Richie flipped him off. 

The group laughed, it was normal again. No drama, just friends having a good time. 

"Shit, what time is it?" Eddie asked, sitting up  

"It's like half past 5, why?" Bev answered

"Fuck!" Eddie scrambled to his feet, grabbing his shirt and shorts. Throwing them back on

"Need to go home Ed's?" Richie asked, looking at his boyfriend 

"Yea, can you home with me Chee?" Eddie asked, using his puppy dog eyes he knew Richie loved 

"I need to stay back Ed's sorry, you'll be ok?" 

Eddie's smile dropped, he hid it well so Richie didn't see. He was upset, Richie would always walk him home, it was petty to be upset over this but he couldn't think of a reason why Richie would have to stay. 

"Ok Chee, bye!" Eddie waved to his friends, riding away on his bike  

"Why didn't you go with him?" Stan asked, raising an eyebrow at Richie 

"Because I was wondering if you guys would help me plan a surprise party for Eddie!" 

Richie smiled as the group nodded, agreeing to help Richie surprise Eddie. The group kept talking for hours until one by one they went home. 

Eddie had cycled home with his bike, was Richie mad at him? 

Richie always walked him home, Eddie wondered if Richie was upset. Had he done something wrong? Eddie was upset, especially since the last time something bad happened Richie nearly died. He wanted to ask Richie but was afraid he would make it worse so he kept quiet. 

The next day was normal, Eddie and Richie were still close but Eddie felt like something was wrong. Richie kept sneaking off and cancelling their dates. Eddie had no idea about the surprise party and assumed Richie was cheating on him. 

It had been exactly three months, 7 days and 3 hours since Richie and Eddie had started dating, Eddie was convinced Richie didn't love him anymore but nothing happened, so he planned a big date for the two. He had bought a promise ring and cooked a bunch of food to bring to the quarry as well as a poem Eddie had spent night writing, mainly ripping updrafts. 

Eddie was excited and phoned Richie, smiling like a clown. 

"Hey Ed's!" Richie smiled, he was at Stan's house. He, Stan and Bev were organising decorations for the surprise party. 

"Are you able to come over to the quarry Chee? I have a surprise for you!" Eddie giggled, Richie felt bad 

"Shit, I'm sorry Ed's I'm busy. Can we reschedule?" Richie asked with a sweet tone, Bev looked to Richie who mouthed a 'sorry' to Richie. If they didn't finish this part it would take them way more than a week to finish.  

Eddie felt tears in his eyes, Richie really was cheating on him. 

"Fine! Fuck you, Tozier!" He shouted, hanging up on Richie 

"Ed's!" Richie shouted but Eddie had hung up

"Shit he hates me now, can't we just tell him!?" 

Richie felt bad enough as it is, but Bev and Stan refused to let Richie tell Eddie. All their hard work would be for nothing, but at this rate, Eddie probably wouldn't even want to go. 

Eddie started crying, he had lost Richie. He couldn't get the image of Richie kissing some random school girl, instead of being with him. It made Eddie feel sick, he ran to the kissing bridge. Seeing R + E carved into the bridge made him cry even more. He fell to his knee's, holding his head in his hands, sobbing. 

"Aww did he break up with you?" A harsh voice came from behind Eddie, it wasn't a sincere tone, it was a mock.

Henry Bowers 

"What do you want Bowers!?" Eddie shouted, wiping his tears. 

Henry pulled out his knife, pining Eddie to the bridge with a smirk. He started punching Eddie as he let out cries of pain. 

"This is what you get for being a fucking fairy!" Henry shouted, carving his initials into Eddie's stomach. 

Eddie screamed, tears streaming from his face as he felt himself get weaker. 

"Tell Richie or anyone else I did this and I'll kill your fairy friends!" Henry shouted, dropping Eddie and running off 

Eddie cried, holding his stomach as blood seeped through his shirt. He dragged himself to the clubhouse and collapsed in the hammock. He had nowhere to go. If he went home to his mum she would put him in hospital for days, if he went to his friends Bowers would kill them. 

The next day 

Richie grabbed his bike, riding to Eddie's house to walk him to school. He knew Eddie was mad at him, he wanted to apologise for not being able to make it on the date. He had an excuse, saying that Ben got hurt, it was definitely believable. 

right? 

Richie arrived at Eddie's house but he wasn't there. Richie got worried, Eddie never left before this time, he even asked his mother who started crying as soon as he asked about Eddie. 
What if something had happened to him? Richie thought as he felt guilt flooding through him, what if Eddie had hurt himself? What if he was dead? 

Richie was early, he still had 20 minutes until school started. He decided to go check the clubhouse, maybe he fell asleep there. 

Richie cycled as quick as he could arriving at the clubhouse, climbing the ladder to see Eddie sleeping in the hammock. 

"Eds!?" Richie shouted with a  big smile, 

Eddie woke up, seeing Richie. He used a blanket to hide his now red shirt, then he remembered what had happened yesterday. 

"What the fuck do you want Richie!? Haven't you hurt me enough!" 

Richie was confused, he knew he missed the date but he didn't think Eddie was that mad. 

"Ed's I'm sorry for missing the date. I really am-" 

Eddie stopped him, "Don't fucking call me Ed's! Just stay away from me!" Eddie shouted, a tear falling down his face as he ran off. 

"Eddie!?" Richie ran after Eddie, grabbing his wrist 

Eddie turned around, glaring at Richie.

"Were. Over!" Eddie shouted, throwing off Richie's hand and storming off.
