On the day of graduation

"Here are your robes just in case your late and need to go straight there ok?" Mrs Uris said, helping Richie pack for his date with Eddie.

Today was the day of the losers graduation, and Richie promised he'd drive Eddie out to the country for a date before they would have to leave for University and College.

Richie had stayed up all night cooking and baking food for Eddie and him, Making a list of Eddie's favourite foods. He wanted the date to be the best since he and Eddie were going to be separated.

Eddie's going to study Drama in California, whilst Richie is going to NYC to study music and sound production.

They were willing to have a long-distance relationship, planning on messaging and face timing each other every time, as well as visiting each other during holidays and long weekends.

"Richie, Eddie's waiting outside!" Stan shouted, his hair was wet from the shower. Whilst he was getting prepared for graduation already, despite them having around three hours before the ceremony.

"Thanks, Stanny!" Richie shouted back, running to the door and swinging it open. Engulfing Eddie into a giant hug, hearing the smaller boys giggle.

Richie grabbed the basket and the box of his and Eddie's graduation robes, his suit and Eddie's dress.

"Thank you for doing all this Chee". Eddie smiled, kissing Richie's cheek.

"No problem Ed's, I'm gonna miss you so much you know that?" Richie said, looking into Eddie's eyes.

Eddie nodded, pecking Richie's lips before he started the car and drove off out of Derry. The radio turned on as the two boys started singing loudly, the windows rolled down as the car sped along the empty road.

Soon enough they arrived at a big field full of purple lavender, making Eddie sneeze as he stepped out of the car.

Richie chuckled, holding Eddie's hand and taking the picnic basket out of the car. Eddie helped him lay the blanket out, the two collapsed laughing and kissing each other.

"I'm starving", Eddie said, laying on Richie's chest.

"I knew you wouldn't eat breakfast, so I made pancakes!"

Eddie gasped, as Richie took out plates of pancakes, passing Eddie maple syrup that Mrs Uris had put in a flask to keep it warm.

"These look delicious Chee", Eddie said, placing a soft kiss on Richie's Cheek.

"You missed Ed's". Richie smirked, kissing Eddie's lips.

"Idiot", Eddie laughed, taking a big bite of the pancake.

The food was delicious, Richie had even brought berries and cream to add the fluffy pancakes. Eddie was so happy, the happiest he'd been in a long time.

He felt free, free from Bowers and his gang and free from his homophobic family. He felt like he and Richie could do anything, it was him and Richie against the world.

"You got a little something-" Richie said, placing whipped cream on Eddie's nose.

"Hey!" Eddie giggled, tacking Richie and putting the cream underneath his nose like a white moustache.

"Mmm", Richie licked the whipped cream as Eddie laughed, sitting on top of his boyfriend.

Richie lifted his arms, tickling Eddie's sides as the small boy started laughing non-stop. Richie switched their positions, so he was straddling Eddie as he tickled him.

"Chee! s- stop!" Eddie shouted through laughs, Richie tickled under his arms causing Eddie to let out a snort.

"That was adorable Ed's!" Richie laughed, Eddie, giving him a light punch in the arm after sitting up.

Richie reached into the basket, pulling out a letter and passing it to Eddie.

"This is for after our graduation when we've both left for University... I want you to read it then ok?"

Eddie smiled, leaning on Richie's shoulder, "Promise".

The two boys fell asleep on the blanket, inhaling the scent of the fresh lavender around them. Richie completely forgot about the fact they had to get back for their graduation.

After a while Eddie woke up, checking his phone for any messages he realised they had less than an hour to get back home.

"Chee! Chee, wake up!" Eddie shouted, shaking Richie to wake him up.

"What is it?" Richie asked, waking up.

"Our graduation! It's in less than an hour!"

"Fuck!" Richie cursed, grabbing everything and shoving it back into the basket.

He grabbed Eddie's wrist, the two running back to the car as Richie started the engine.

"I'm sorry Ed's", Richie sighed, starting to drive back to Derry.

"Richie you have nothing to apologise for! Today was amazing, I love you so much Chee".

Richie smiled, Eddie placed his hand on Richie's thigh as he drove. Showing Richie to not panic and he wouldn't care even if they were late back.

Richie's phone started to blow up, thousands of miss calls from Mrs Uris, Stan and Beverly. He cursed, passing his phone to Eddie.

Eddie messaged Mrs Uris to tell her they're driving back, and they'll be there.

"I told them were coming". Eddie said, passing the phone back to Richie.

Richie took one of his hands off the steering wheel, reaching over to take his phone.

"Richie!" Eddie shouted, as his head snapped back towards the road.

The car spun around, as another car collided head-on with it.

Everything went black.
