Shizuka

It was already past 9pm but wala pa rin sina Ryota.

Kanina pa ako nakatutok sa phone ko, expecting Ryota's call to inform me if they already found my Uji.

I already called him and I sighed in relief when he answered but it was cut short.

"Shizuka! Why are you doing nothing?! Call your slow and incompetent bodyguards! Kanina pa dapat nila naiuwi si Dos! I can't waste any more time waiting! You are responsible for this! I thought susunduin mo siya at kauuwi ko lang din galing Japan then ito ang madadatnan ko? You really like surprises huh? Congrats, sobrang effective."

I ignored her tantrums.

The audacity of this woman to tell me what to do as if I'm doing nothing.

If she's not only my bestfriend, matagal na siyang nananahimik.

"I came to her university 30 minutes earlier to pick her up because she asked me to. I waited for so long and called her multiple times but she wasn't answering. I didn't know what happened. It was sudden. Malinaw ang usapan namin."

"Hindi mo alam?! Are you out of your mind Shizuka?! She is your responsibility! You know the drill and the deal. Alam mo kung bakit galing ako sa Japan di ba? At lalong alam mo kung bakit kailangang ingatan at protektahan si Dos kahit na tatanga-tanga 'yon. Oo masakit siya sa ulo pero mas masakit kung mawala siya. I hope nagkakaintindihan tayo Shizuka." She's really mad at me and I didn't expect na may mangyayaring ganito.

"Kagagaling ko lang din ng Japan. We both were. I always do my best to protect her like I used to. You know that I'll protect her at all costs dahil ayoko ng maulit ang nangyari sa kanya 15 years ago and what happened to her was all my fault because I'm a Tokugawa."

Kumalma naman siya at lumapit sa'kin to comfort me.

"It's a lie. I know it's not your fault and we're still seeking who's behind it but we already have suspicion on someone you knew. Shizuka, don't blame yourself if my daughter lost her memories 15 years ago. She was forced to. She was injected with a special kind of pain reliever to alleviate the pain on her head due to the traumatic head injury she suffered from the incident where you saved her. One of its side effects is loss of memories. It wasn't our decision, not me nor my husband. It was the decision of the head of the Fujiwara clan, her grandfather. Wala na kaming nagawa. He did it for my daughter's safety and to start a new life here in the Philippines."

A tear fell from my eyes.

I was always wondering what our lives would be if that incident didn't happen.

"If wala ka no'ng oras na 'yon, matagal ng patay si Dos. Wala na sana ang sole heiress ng Fujiwara Clan."

"Madame Yuriko! Shizuka-sama!"

We both looked at Ryota. Nakarating na sila.

"Si Dos? Nasaan siya? Ba't puro dugo kayo?" Yuriko is panicking and so am I.

He didn't answer at yumuko lang kaya marahas siyang hinila ni Riko.

"Ryota, where is she?!" she yelled in anger. I tried to remain calm dahil ayoko ng dumagdag pa.

"We buried the dead bodies of the security guards, Madame Yuriko. We left no traces. As for Señorita Dos, follow me."

We went outside ASAP while he lead the way.

"We're very sorry for the foul smell caused by the blood."

He opened the door and we saw my Uji stained with blood on the right side of her forehead. She was on the stretcher.
