{ chapter eight : fireworks }

"This could be the end of everything.
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?"

The whole of Narnia celebrated the coronation of King Caspian, glad that the world was emerging into something much greater than it had been over the last few hundred years. The kingdom was more than happy to end the terrifying reign of Miraz, although there were some questions still in the air surrounding what happened next.

There was a parade to the castle where Caspian rode ahead to greet his people; a silver crown perched on his head which glistened in the sunlight. He couldn't stop smiling at the realisation that the war was over and the Narnians had won back their home. He had always wanted peace across the land and this was one step closer to it.

Aslan celebrated the coronation as well, bowing his head to the kingdom people and joining the four young royals as they waved to their subjects. Trumpkin wasn't thrilled about a parade but agreed to walk with his daughter, who was more than interested in returning to the castle.

Thorndash had been asked by Aslan to help Caspian take his rightful place as king of Narnia and she couldn't wait. There were still more questions that she had about her family and who she was but she was hoping that living in the castle and spending more time with the telmarines would answer these for her.

The great lion knew that there was someone waiting for him as he made his way around the ballroom. He had been watching Lucy dancing with a rather unhappy Edmund when he spotted Thorndash watching him. Knowing that she had many unanswered questions, he stepped into the hallway and waited for her to follow him. They had to have some privacy and walked the almost empty halls together.

"You have a question, young one?"

She fiddled with her hands, she was hardly ever nervous but this was a large favour and she didn't want to seem ungrateful. "I didn't want to bother you-"

"No question would ever bother me. Go ahead, ask whatever you wish."

"The White Witch mentioned something about my family, that she knew my mother and she knew my name. Then when we were fighting the telmarines, the general...he knew the name too."

"You want to know what this means?" Aslan filled in the blanks, nodding knowingly at the girl. "I can tell you about your past, Gwendolyn but only if you wish to know."

She took a deep breath, it wasn't going to be easy but she didn't want anymore secrets. "I want to know...everything."

Aslan proceeded to tell her everything that she needed to know about her family. General Glozelle was her father and he was married, when they had a daughter, they decided not to raise her. Not because they didn't love her but because they were scared of what Miraz would do. They didn't want their child to grow up prejudiced or forced into a life that she didn't want.
