Chapter 291 - If he was gone, she wouldn't be used to it (2)

Ye Lisa rolled her eyes. If it was two years ago, she would have already wanted to run away. Why didn't she run? It's because he had caught her and wouldn't let her run away.

It was said that feelings will develop over time, but Ye Lisa didn't know if there were feelings between her and Jungkook. They had live together for a few years. There was the shadow of Jungkook in every aspect of her life. He had assimilated into her life and become an indispensable part of it. She had gotten used to falling asleep at night with Jungkook lying next to her. On nights when Jungkook returned home late, she would toss and turn, unable to fall asleep.

Habit was a terrible thing.

"Your what if is impossible. Zhouzhou is almost two years old. If you want to stuff him back now, that's impossible."

Jungkook chuckled and sighed. "If I didn't stop you at the airport back then, would you have gotten together with Lin Eunwoo?"

Ye Lisa furrowed her brow. Why was he dredging up the past?

"Why are you acting like a jealous person. Why are you bringing up stuff that's impossible?" Ye Lisa sighed. "If you didn't stop me back then, I'll probably be struggling to make ends meet in some city and raising Zhouzhou, that brat, by myself!"

Ye Lisa thought it over. If she had been able to leave then, who knows what kind of situation she would be in now.

Perhaps, she might be living a wonderful, unfettered life. Perhaps, her life might be really difficult. She might be working herself to the bone to earn life's daily necessities. Either way, no one could accurately say what the paths not chosen would look like.

"Happy or not, it doesn't matter.  It's all in the past. There's no point in mentioning it." Ye Lisa discovered that Jungkook had been looking for reasons to divert them towards something instead of just coming out and saying it. "What exactly do you want to say?"

Jungkook pressed his lips tightly together. He narrowed his eyes as if he was contemplating something. His Adam's apple was going up and down. It was a sign that he was nervous.

"If it's because of what Mrs. Ye said, don't take her words to heart. You know that she's trying to stir up trouble. Moreover, I've already been honest with you about what happened in the past. You should believe me."

Jungkook looked at her with gleaming eyes. "I believe you."

"That's all there is to it, isn't it?"

"But I still want to ask you something."

Ye Lisa looked at him. She stared at his long and thick eyelashes that were slightly trembling. His beautiful eyes were bright, focused, and ardent. They could hold the whole world, but right now, they only had her in them.

"You said you stayed because of Zhouzhou, because of the contract…" Jungkook faltered. He carefully considered what to say next.

Ye Lisa stared at him and faintly smiled. "Of course those aren't the only reasons. There's also Mrs. Jeon. She's the best mom in the world."

Jungkook's expression dimmed. His face was dispirited.

Ye Lisa murmured into his ear, "And there's you."

Jungkook's normally calm heart wildly beated. He incredulously looked at Ye Lis.

"What did you say?"

He needed to use all of his strength to calm down in order to speak coherently.
