Se-ri and Jeong-hyeok were closest friends. Despite the difference in their social status, Jeong-hyeok being the heir to Vast, and Se-ri just being a normal banker. The two meet in secluded area only they know. Being friends for almost a decade now, Se-ri and Jeong-hyeok don't hide anything from each other. So Jeong-hyeok telling her he's getting married came to her as a surprise.
They were in the usual area they would meet in. The place was a beautiful secluded lake, far from the judgement of media. Which was a factor for Jeong-hyeok as this would be a massive scandal in the industry.
"Se-ri, I'm getting married next month." Words, Jeong-hyeok uttered making Se-ri's heart shatter into pieces. Though being friends for almost a decade, Se-ri had started falling for Jeong-hyeok almost years ago to the point that she probably loves him already, but she didn't have the upright courage to tell him. She didn't want to risk what she and Jeong-hyeok had, a precious friendship she cherished so much.
"Congrats, Jeong-hyeok! Such lucky woman to have you." Se-ri congratulates him though having such a heavy feeling on her chest.
"But Se-ri, I don't love her. I love someone else Se-ri. But I don't want to risk it Se-ri. She's too special to me." Jeong-hyeok releases his words.
"Jeong-hyeok, all I can tell you is if you wont risk it you'll definetely regret it in the future. Would you be able to handle seeing her marry someone else? Se-ri advices.
"Se-ri, thank you so much." Jeong-hyeok pulls her into his embrace.
A month passes by, Se-ri is seated at the last row of the church. Though she arrives with a heavy heart, she's happy for Jeong-hyeok. Moments later the bride, Jeong-hyeok's soon to be wife enters the chapel. Though his bride is already steps away from him, he still doesn't break the eye contact from Se-ri. Even if he's about to become a husband to someone else in a few moments he still has Se-ri on his mind. Her words a month back, making him realize what he should've done rather than agreeing to this.
Meanwhile Se-ri's thoughts are burdening her even more, the thoughts in her head making her want to tear up but also tries to control herself to not catch the spotlight away from the bride. In another life, she'll be the one walking down that aisle to Jeong-hyeok, in another life, she'll be his and he'll be hers, in another life they'll be Mr & Mrs Ri. But for this lifetime it seems like desting and fate wouldn't allow all of that.
Se-ri is cut out of her thoughts when she notices the commotion going on. Jeong-hyeok left. Realizing that Se-ri picks herself up and drags herself out of the church. She knew where Jeong-hyeok was. She knew where his safe place was when he had problems and insecurities about his decisions.
"Jeong-hyeok, are you here?" Se-ri asks the empty lake.
Out of the corner of her eye Se-ri see's him and approaches him. "Jeong-hyeok, why did you leave?"
"Se-ri, I can't handle getting married to anyone else I want to marry you Se-ri, I love you so much. For the past years, my heart has belonged to you Se-ri. I was too scared to ruin our friendship but I realized, if I wouldn't take the risk, I would regret it" Jeong-hyeok replies
Tears forming in her eyes, Se-ri replies "Jeong-hyeok, I- I don't know what to say. Out of our entire friendship I have never heard you speak that much. It just tells me how much you want this, you want us. Jeong-hyeok, I love you too. My heart will always and forever will." Se-ri confesses
No words were uttered after that, instead Jeong-hyeok pulls Se-ri in for kiss. That kiss wasn't ordinary. They poured out all the love and feelings they had for each other, feelings they couldn't state were poured into that kiss. A kiss under the beautiful sunset in their safe spot.
