Dale Carnegie, an American writer once said: "If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep."

I open my eyes and huff out loud after tossing and turning for a good hour. Accepting defeat I look next to me and notice Jeremy fast asleep in blissful dreamland. Trying my best to not wake him up, I slowly climb out of bed and tiptoe my way out of the room. The cold breeze hits my skin and I quickly wrap my arms around my body, trying to keep the heat I previously held under my blanket.

As I walk down the stairs and make my way to the kitchen —deciding I need a glass of water— I hear faint speaking from my destination. I swiftly pick up my pace, my curiosity getting the best of me, and soon begin to make out words.

"No, no tell him what I said." I recognize Elias speaking in the kitchen. He lets a small laugh escape his lips as he speaks. My feet freeze on the ground as I try to figure out who he's speaking with. His words are followed with silence until he speaks again. "You're probably right, for once."

I soon realize Elias is speaking on the phone to someone and decide it's best not to eavesdrop. I make myself known as I walk inside the kitchen and find Elias sitting on the counter with a phone placed to his ear. He notices my presence as his eyes follow me walk towards the fridge.

"Yeah..." Elias says to who ever he's on the phone with, sounding distracted as he watches me. I grab a bottle of water from the fridge and turn around, letting my back fall against the metal door. My eyes are glued on Elias as his are glued to mine. "Mhmm." Elias answers to the caller and watches me take a sip of water.

"I need to go now." Elias says as he continues to watch me, his whole body facing mine. "Yeah... you too." He instantly hangs up the call and places the phone in his pocket.

"Hey," Elias smiles.

"So who was that?" I ask like I wasn't bothered, but truly my curiosity was absolutely overwhelming. I've never been very good at the nonchalant facade but you know what they say... fake it till you make it.

"No one, now why are you awake?" Elias says, completely dismissing my question. He pushes himself off the counter and begins to walk towards me.

"I doubt you're calling no one at..." I turn to look at the clock on the wall and then back at Elias. "3.30am."

"It was a friend," Elias pushes his hands in his pockets and leans agains the edge of the counter, a few feet away from me.

"You're calling a friend at 3.30am?" I raise my eyebrows as I force my overthinking mind to not have a single say in the subject.

"A friend from England," Elias says.

"Ah, time differences." I nod my head slowly, understanding why he's calling a friend at 3.30am. I'm left with a slightly bitter taste on my tongue, realizing that Elias never called me at 3.30am back when he was in England.

"And why are you awake?" Elias asks as he watches me.

"I couldn't sleep." I shrug my shoulders and take another sip from my water, feeling like it's a much needed barrier between Elias and I.

"Why?"

"I was... thinking." I shake my head as I let a small smile escape my lips.

"About?" Elias shoves his hands deeper into his pockets, making the sweatpants fall a fraction lower. I pull my eyes quickly away from the view and take a small sip of my water.

"Aren't you full of questions today." I smile from behind the water bottle.

"What were you thinking of?" He says, being persistent as ever.
