Chapter 18

Cora's P.O.V
A couple hours after we had started searching the town and walking around both myself and Tyki had become tired. As we walked along a street with a cement wall we froze and I formed a barrier guarding us and I tensed as a male exorcist had crashed through the wall in front of us and I smirked.

"Let me deal with this one; that side is wanting blood and we're going to have it." Tyki smirked darkly.

I nodded my head and let Tyki do what he wanted as I made sure the innocence didn't hit us and I flinched feeling the strain of using my barrier to much and silently cursed.

I heard the man scream and before I could look I heard Tyki speak up.

"Don't look my dear; hang on a little longer I'm just about done." He had amusement in his tone but both himself and his Noah wanted this.

When Tyki finished we left till we were safe and dropped my barrier and felt Tyki catch me as I collapsed panting and was fighting to stay away. "S-sorry...I-I over d-did it."

Tyki chuckled as he carried me bridal style to a hotel where we got a great room and Tyki laid me on our hotel bed.

"You did amazing Cora; I'm proud of you. Now get some rest I'll be right here." Tyki spoke as he started removing his outer clothes as I passed out since I was exhausted.

Tyki's P.O.V
Tyki looked to the bed when he saw Cora was already passed out asleep and he smiled softly. He walked over and gently covered her before he went to go take a bath so that Cora could have quiet for a little longer to get into a deeper state of sleep.

Tyki sighed grabbing his night clothes before he entered the bathroom and closed the door as he started a bath with his clothes on the counter and a towel near by.

Tyki knew that Cora had to learn to strengthen her barrier but he was also happy that she had no problem with stepping into a fight. He chuckled softly thinking back to the fight earlier and wondered how he got lucky to have a strong woman like her by his side.

As Tyki showered he felt himself relax under the hot water he would check on the Teeze that was with Cora and he could feel that she was becoming upset and frowned as he finished his showered and got out getting dried and dressed.

As Tyki walked out into the bedroom and stopped when he saw Cora tossing around and he worried knowing she was having a nightmare as he hurried over and gently sat on the bed as he gathered Cora in his arms and felt her stop moving around as he kissed her head softly.

He set her on his lap as he adjusted them so he could lean back against the headboard and gently kept rubbing circles on her back as he felt Cora cuddle into him causing Tyki to smile softly.

He noticed that his Noah had become alert to Cora having her nightmare but calmed when she did. He found it amusing how this strong woman in his arms with her own special gifts...could calm down the Noah of pleasure without really needing to try.

"Your safe Cora; so long as I'm around no one will ever touch you. They have to get through me to ever touch you." Tyki spoke softly and he could feel himself getting tired after the long day they both had.

Tyki adjusted them so they could lay down and he chuckled softly when Cora cuddled into him as he held her and covered them over before he used his powers to turn the lights off and fell asleep as well.

*Timeskip*
Tyki woke up in the morning when he felt the bed cold against him and he heard the shower running as he figured that Cora was showering. He yawned getting up and got up walking to the window and opened it as he lit himself a cigarette while he waited for Cora.

He wondered if he should order them food to their room or if they would go to find some food together. If he ordered food then it meant they would have some time together before they headed back out to continue their mission; he frowned thinking of yesterday when Cora was exhausted from using her powers that he didn't hear her come out.

"You know Tyki you keep thinking so hard you'll get grey hair quicker then you think." Cora smiled playfully as she walked over already dressed and was towel drying her hair.

Tyki chuckled as he looked to her and shook his head. "Nah babe I got a few years before I ever need to worry about any white hair. Come here let me dry your hair; how are you feeling?"

Cora moved sitting on the window ledge as Tyki dried her hair gently. "I'm sorry I passed out; but when the innocence kept hitting I felt like it was draining me some like with every hit I could feel myself getting drained."

Tyki frowned. "I didn't know innocence could harm you; that's something we'll have to be careful of when we confront them."

"I didn't know because I never really had to fight against anyone using their innocence, it's something we know now. It just means I have to find a way to get stronger and not let the innocence touch me too much again." Cora looked up when Tyki finished drying her hair and he tossed the towel to the side as she went to brush her hair.

Tyki hummed softly as he watched her work on styling her hair which he smiled softly about. "Well we'll keep you safe but we should also see what else can drain you; if the barrier was being damaged with every attack then you would have been repairing it that can drain you as well."

"That's true; every time I use my powers it drains me and the longer I use them the more it drains me and eventually I'll be able to use them longer the more I use them. It's going to take time; and yes I know it's time we don't have to spare not when we're all looking for the heart of the innocence and getting rid of exorcists along the way." Cora looked to Tyki as she finished getting her hair styled.

"Hey I wasn't going to say that; we all know your working hard to get stronger. I know your getting stronger that was the longest you went with holding your barrier I'm proud of you Cora so please stop doubting yourself so much. Now shall we have breakfast? Are we going to order to our room or go down and eat."

"I feel like eating in our room today; I mean I'm still feeling a little tired and I can rest some before the food comes right?"

Tyki smiled softly and nodded his head. "Yeah go ahead; do you want the usual?"

"Yes please and thank you I promise I'll pay you back Tyki."

"No need Cora; what kind of gentleman would I be if I let my woman pay for her meal I got it. Go get some rest you still look tired; we can rest for awhile today before we have to push on. We'll soon be heading back to Edo, Japan I think you'll like it there but it's heavy with akuma so you'll have to have a Noah with you at all times if you want to explore."

Cora was listening and he smiled gently as he led her to the bed and sat with Cora hoping she would rest. "I'd like to explore with you Tyki; I love being able to travel with you. I also need to send the tea to Road for Earl when I get a chance later." Cora spoke but her voice was tired.

"How about we drop by the ark later and you can give it to him; maybe we should return and rest on the ark for a bit I just want you back to full strength my butterfly." Tyki noticed that Cora's breathing had evened out and he gently laid her down so she could sleep easily.
