Intertwined

I stared at Sting and Rouge as we continued making our way through the town. It had just so happened that Sting and Rogue were here the same reason that we were here. To help the villagers get rid of their problem.

I didn't much like the two new additions to our Team, four, if you count the Exceeds. I had heard what had happened at the Grand Magic Games. How Natsu and Gajeel had fought against them.

But...something dark twisted inside me. I had heard how brutal Sting and Rogue were to my two Guild Mates. Natsu and Gajeel had been hurt so much.

That...that angered me to no end. Of course I knew that SaberTooth and Fairy Tail were now considered friends or comrades. I still didn't like Sting and Rogue though. No matter that I knew that the four Dragon Slayers were now friends.

I gritted my teeth and played with my necklace. Control it, Freya. Remember the code. Remember. But...these two really didn't fit in the Code. Not really. They weren't that innocent. They did hurt my Guild Mates. They hurt Natsu...

Then Levy was by my side. She took one look at my dark expression and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Are you alright, Fey-chan?" Her voice was laced with concern. I kept my eyes straight ahead as I answered her.

"Not really, Levs." I took a breath. "I...heard about what happened at the Grand Magic Games, Levy. How those two hurt Natsu and Gajeel." I took a deep breath as I eyed them. "I don't trust them."

Levy looked at me and nodded her head in understanding. "I know how you feel. I didn't trust them either, actually." She smiled then. "But now I do. They would never hurt Fairy Tail."

I looked at Levs. "Then explain to me why Sting was up in that tree waiting to attack Natsu all ninja like?" Levy smirked, "He probably wanted to sneak attack him or challenge him. Like Natsu does all the time."

I rubbed the back of my neck. "You have a point there." Levy started to jump up and down excitedly. "Fey-chan! That was awesome how you leaped in the air and just grabbed him!" Levy did a cute little jump and clawed the air.

"Then you just slammed him into the ground like that!" She imitated slamming a body into the ground.

Once she was finished, and once I was done laughing my head off, she leaned in close to me. "Don't think I didn't notice how you pushed Natsu out of the way to save him." She whispered out.

I smiled softly down at her, "I would do the same for you too, Levs." She smiled brightly and linked her arm with my own. "Me too, Fey-chan."

As Levy and I walked side my side my attention was drawn to the four Dragon Slayers that were up front. They were all laughing and joking with one another. There was no tension in the air surrounding them. They all looked relaxed and comfortable around each other.

I played with my necklace. Perhaps I could forgive...but I would never forget.

After we had talked to the villagers and had looked for anything suspicious, we met back with Erza, and everyone else. After we had reported our findings to her, she told us what she and Gray had discovered.

"Both Gray and I have found out that these 'Demons' live up near the mountains of this village. There is a very old temple there that has not been disturbed in more than 100 years...Until very recently someone without the knowledge of what really lies up there, has awoken something dark. Something that craves death.

"We are going to travel up the mountains and to the temple where the creature lies in wait. We must defeat the creature before it comes back to the village and kills more innocents. Let's go!"

We all whooped and we started to run in the direction of the mountains and the creature that awaited us.

********************************

"Okay..." I wheezed. "Can...we please...take...a...break." I said as I bent over and put my hands on my knees. I took in big lungfuls of air as Erza turned toward me. "We will rest here." She told us with a sigh.

"Oh thank you." I breathed out as I dropped to my knees then flopped onto my stomach in the warm grass. Lucy shuffled over to a big rock and put her back to it. She them stretched her arms above her and let out a happy sigh.

Erza and Wendy, along with Carla, went over to a small clearing where you could see a huge temple. It wasn't too far off now.

We would be there soon.

Already I could hear faint shouting from Natsu and Gray. I closed my eyes, flipped over on my back, and put my hands behind my head. To my right I could hear Happy pulling up some flowers, which, I'm sure, he was going to give to Carla.

Close to where Natsu and Gray were fighting with each other I could hear Sting and Rogue talking to each other. Close to them I could also hear their two Exceeds.

Somewhere up ahead I could hear Levy sit down with a soft thud followed by a heavier thud as Gajeel joined her. It was funny, I had been around my friends so much, that I could identify them by the way they breathed or by the way they moved.

I smiled as the sun warmed my face...I was stuck here now. My heart, my soul, my whole being, was now firmly intertwined with my Fairy Tail family.

I could never leave this life behind me. I knew it was selfish. I knew it was beyond dangerous for me to stay. But whatever or whoever came at me. Endangered my family...my Guild...the people that had somehow wormed their way into my heart...if anyone tried to hurt them...they would meet the end of my daggers.

"Come on everyone! We're almost there." Erza told us all.

My eyes flashed open.
