Lets Go To The Beach
"Lets go to the beach!" Lucy squealed as she began to jump up and down. In her hands were several tickets. I was sitting at a table with Natsu, Levy, Gajeel, Gray, and the Exceeds, Happy and Pantherlily.
Today marked my fourth month being apart of Fairy Tail. I had tried to leave...many times. I had the money. I could leave. I could hide better...I could begin anew. But, something was holding me here.
I glanced at the smiling boy next to me. I think I knew what that something was. Natsu and I had become closer ever since I had told him about my Magic and how I felt about it. He was now my best and closet friend, next to Levy, of course. Levy and I had become even closer over the past four months that I had been here. Now I told her everything. Except my past, that...that I would have to keep a secret.
My gaze went back to the happy blond.
"I've got tickets to the Beach Resort. Lets go!" I blinked and leaned back in my chair. "I think it's a great idea, don't you, Fey-chan?" I looked over at Levy who was smiling brightly.
My lips tilted up on one side and I shrugged my shoulders. "If Levs is going, so am I."
Natsu let out a whoop and jumped out of his chair. "I'm all fired up now!" Happy also jumped up in the air and yelled out an 'Aye, Sir!' Gray scowled up at Natsu.
"Your so damn loud." Natsu scowled right back. "And your to damn cold." Gray started to stand when Erza popped out of nowhere.
"Beach, you say, Lucy?" She blinked solemnly. "I haven't had a vacation for a while. I'll go pack my things." Then she turned and left.
I chuckled, she had just invited herself. Levy looked too Gajeel. "Are you coming, Gajeel?" Gajeel looked at her and put his hands behind his head. "Sure, whatever."
I swear Levy's eyes began to sparkle. I covered my mouth with my hand to hide my smile. She had it bad. Natsu slung his arm around my shoulders and grinned at me.
"Lets go, Fey!" I smiled up at him and let him pull me up. I guess I had it bad too. I laughed when Natsu and I ran out of the Guild with Happy flying above us.
"Race you to the train station!" He yelled to me as he took off. Oh, yay, I was so going to win. I took off after him.
I heard Natsu let out a laugh of his own and then I could hear his pounded footsteps running after me. My hair was flying behind me and the wind felt good on my face.
I let out a happy laugh and kept running. I looked up to the blue sky and saw Happy flying above my head.
Ha, like I'm going to let a cat beat me.
I pushed my legs harder. In the corner of my eye I saw Natsu flying after me. He was gaining on me. I was only a few feet away from the train station when warm arms slipped around my middle.
I was picked up from behind and I crushed up against a chest. "Natsu, what are you doing!" I laughed out. His reply came close to my ear, "Winning."
He then began to run. He made it to the train station and smiled down at me. "I won." No, I think I won. I thought with a small smile. For one moment, just one, I closed my eyes and laid my head on his chest.
Natsu set me on my feet much to soon and messed up my hair. "Your gonna have to be faster to beat me." I ran my hand through my messed up hair and scoffed at him.
"You cheated." Natsu shook his head. "Nah, I thought it was perfectly fair." I smiled and flicked his forehead, "Sure, whatever you say, Natsu." Just then Happy came flying toward us.
With a tired sigh his wings disappeared and he began to fall. Natsu opened up his arms and caught him. Happy's eyes were rolling around in his head as he mumbled out. "You two...are too...fast." I smiled and like an afterthought, I put my hand on Natsu's shoulder, and leaned in closer to Happy.
"Sorry, Happs, but you shouldn't have tried to race Natsu and I." Happy let out an exhausted, "Aye," before he fell asleep in Natsu's arms.
I smiled down at the sleeping cat and looked up to see Natsu looking at me. It was then that I realized how close we were. As our eyes locked and we-
"Yo!" I jumped away from him and looked to see where the voice had come from. Gray was there holding his side as he tried to catch his breath. "Y-you...slow down..."
I let out a small laugh. "Come now, Gray, don't kid yourself." I told him with a smile and a hand on my hip. "You're the one who needs to hurry up."
Natsu laughed from beside me as Gray glared at us. I spun on my heel and stalked off to board the train. I put a hand in the air and flicked my wrist. "Oh, and Gray, you're clothes." I heard a curse from behind me and more of Natsu's laughter.
I grinned and hopped onto the train.
In the end Natsu, Levy, Gajeel, Gray, Lucy, Erza, Wendy, the three Exceeds, and I boarded the train to go to the beach. We had all just taken our seats when the train stared to move. Natsu instantly got sick...along with Gajeel. I slammed a hand over my mouth to stifle my laughter.
"Motion sickness...is the...Salamander's thing..." Gajeel said sickly. Huh, must be a Dragon Slayer thing, I thought to myself as I watched the two Dragon Slayers. Levy and Gajeel were sitting in the row beside Natsu, Erza, Lucy, and I. Gray and Wendy were sitting next to them while the three Exceeds were beside their Dragon Slayers.
Happy was looking up from his place beside Natsu with a worried expression on his face. While Pantherlily, who was in Levy's arms, was looking up at Gajeel with second hand embarrassment on his face. "How weak..." Lily muttered with his head down, that caused Levy to giggle. I shook my head with a smile on my face and looked at Natsu's green face.
I frowned and reached out to him. Erza beat me too it though. "I will help him." The red head declared as she pulled him to her. To my horror and shock, she raised her fist in the air above his head.
I didn't even think.
My hand shot out and wrapped around Erza's wrist, stopping the blow. As my Guild Mates stared at me with shock clearly written across their faces, Erza and I locked eyes. Erza looked quite surprised by my actions, and too be honest, I was too. With my hand still wrapped around her wrist I muttered, "Don't do that."
I let go of her and instead wrapped my arms around Natsu. I brought him closer to me and gently put pressure on a spot on his neck. As he went to sleep I laid his head on my lap.
Ignoring my friends stares I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the window of the train. As I was falling asleep I ran my fingers through Natsu's hair.
I had protected him...without even thinking I had protected him...and I knew that I would do it again in a heartbeat.
