Chapter 42: Frozen

Frozen

I had been walking for some time now when I heard a shout from up ahead. I broke out into a dead run when I saw icy white light. I skidded around the corner and stopped when I saw who the Magic belonged too.

Gray Fullbuster was using his Ice Make Magic on...Natsu! I gasped when I saw Gray send a 'lance' toward Natsu. The Fire Dragon Slayer dodged and came back with a fiery fist. I quickly looked around and saw that it was only Gray, Natsu, and I here.

The others were still lost.

I rushed over to Gray just as he sent eagles made of ice at Natsu. I grabbed Gray's hand and wretched it to the side. The eagles went off course and crashed into a near by wall. Barely missing the Fire Mage.

"What the hell, Freya?!" Gray shouted at me. I quickly looked over at Natsu who was staring at us with soulless eyes. His mouth was open a little but it was enough to show us his sharpened canines.

"Natsu...? It's me. It's Freya. Remember?" I said to him in a soft voice. When he tilted his head at me I slowly reached up and yanked off my hood, my black hair sprung free, and cascaded across my face in waves. "See? It's Fey." I said, using the nick name that he had given me, in a soft voice.

The Ice Make Mage was looking at me funny and he kept glancing at Natsu. "What is going on here?" He asked me. I shook my head and murmured, "Natsu is not Natsu."

"What!? I knew something was wrong with him...he just attacked me." Gray said in disbelief as he looked at Natsu with new eyes. I took a slow step forward and paused when Natsu gave a low hiss. "What happened to him?" I heard Gray say but I ignored him.

My focus was only on the boy in front of me.

After a moment I slowly took another step toward him. "Natsu, it's alright. Your not you right now. But don't worry, I'll help you." I spoke softly to him, "You can trust in me." Natsu blinked those red eyes of his and tilted his head a little more.

"F-Fre...ya...?" He said in a voice I didn't recognize. I smiled softly at him and nodded my head slightly, "Yes...its Freya, Natsu. It's Fey." I reached out to him with one hand and he stared at my hand.

He blinked and when he looked at me again I almost let out a relieved sob. One of his red eyes had dimmed a little. I was bringing him back to me. He stayed perfectly still as my hand slowly drew nearer. I had just touched his cheek when his whole body stiffened. He jerked his head away from me just as Sting, Rogue, and Gajeel ran around the corner.

Natsu let out a low roar and shoved me away from him. My hand wrapped around his scarf and it went with me as I fell to the ground, revealing his neck. Natsu ran toward Gray and the others with his whole body crackling with flames.

I still had his scarf gripped in my hand as I screamed his name. He didn't even look back at me. He kept running toward Gray. As I watched with horrified eyes Gray brought up his hand and fist.

"Ice-Make: Ice Wall!"

"NO!" I screamed.

Ice shot towards Natsu and circled all around him. The ice then shot towards his body and latched onto his skin. Natsu roared again and slashed the ice with his clawed up hand. The ice grew faster around him and in a blink of an eye, Natsu was frozen solid.

Gray had frozen him.

My mouth was wide open in a silent scream. I pushed myself off the ground, barley aware that I still had Natsu's scarf in a death grip, and raced over to the frozen boy. I stopped in front of him and let out
a sharp breath.

"Oh...Natsu...no." I said
with my voice trembling. I gently placed my hands on the ice and hissed when my hands almost froze off. I yanked my hands back and spun to Gray.

I snarled and pushed The Ice Mage, "Turn him back!" I screamed at him and I pushed him again. He didn't move that
much but he did take a step back. "Freya! Calm down-"

"No! He can't breath in
there!" I screamed again as I grabbed at him. What if he was dying in there?! Gray grabbed my wrist, "I had to put him in there! He was going to attack us and hurt
himself!" He reasoned.

In the back of my mind I knew that
what he was saying was true. But I was way past reason. I shrieked and wrenched my wrists away from him. I was about to force Gray to do what I wanted when a soft voice said my name.

I stopped and looked over my shoulder. Levy was awake and had lifted her head off of Gajeel's chest.
"Fey-chan...what's wrong?" My heart ached but I put on a fake smile. "It's alright, Levs, everything's okay." Levy blinked tiredly and smiled, "Okay, Fey-chan..." She fell back asleep.

My shoulders dropped and I closed my eyes. "Very well then...what's the plan?" I asked as calmly as I
could. Gray, Gajeel, Sting, Rogue, and the two Exceeds exchanged looks. Gray looked at me and glanced away while rubbing his neck, "We...don't know."

My mouth dropped open and a low growl of announce escaped me. "You...!" I half yelled as I brought up my hands to strangle them all. They all paled and backed away, except for Fro, who was oblivious to it all.

"First we have to figure out
what happened to, Salamander." Gajeel's voice rang out in annoyance.

I looked over at him and nodded my head at him. "Okay."

"The Scorpion Spider."
Rogue muttered.

"I bet that's it." Sting added as he ran a hand through his hair.

I closed my eyes, "The
spider..." My eyes flashed open and I sucked in a sharp breath. "When we were battle that thing it hit Natsu and he flew into the wall..." My eyes met Gajeel's, "Right into the webs..."
