You decide against it and grab Milo and some of the things you'd need. You barely knew these people after all... showing them that you have a working vehicle might cause problems that you don't need in your life right now.

A part of you wanted to go back to the train station to see if you were right about there being tons of zombies there.

Why?

For the chaos of course... okay scratch what you said about problems you don't need right now. You clearly have a death wish or something. The groans could be heard from here, and that just means there were more headed this way and definitely way more at the train station.

The familiar sounds of your own footsteps and Milo's purrs from behind you in your backpack brought a nostalgic feeling over you as you made your way back to the group. You've been trying to think about all of this at once, how you want to go about this, why you're even attempting to stick around, what you should do after the duo wakes up. (They had to wake up, right?)

It's all so confusing that your brain just goes silent, deciding to focus on none of the thoughts and give up before you even beat yourself up over things you can't solve.

You get back with little problem, passing a few zombies on the way.

Marlon meets you at the gate, well- after some strange kid yelled out for him above the gates. You're pretty sure he was keeping watch. But a relieved smile sits on Marlon's face as you walk up to the gates, which you tiredly return.

"Glad you made it back! Hope you didn't run into too many problems out there?" He basically asks, watching you set your bag on the ground.

"It was pretty difficult getting my things back, but we made it back," You lie through your teeth with a grin, not in the mood for him to ask too many questions about how you got your things back.

"We?" He looks confused for a second before his eyes snap to some movement on the ground. His eyes link with Milo's, and an even bigger smile overtakes his face.

"Awhh-" Milo hisses, attempting to scratch Marlon's hand that reached out for him.

Marlon immediately retracts his hand and steps back, shock now overtaking his features.

You awkwardly smile as you both walk inside the safety of the gates, taking a moment to look at all the people scattered about. Inside you were fighting the urge to laugh- if we're going to be honest.

"Sorry... he's like that with new people," You mutter, rubbing the back of your neck.

"Well, I just hope he gets along with Rosie, they both seem like creatures you don't wanna mess with," He chuckles.

You laugh along too, silently wondering who he was talking about.

The sky shifts from a golden hue and the air gets a slight chill. It's the type that lets you know it's time to go back to the warmth of your home, wherever it may be. Your hair sticks to your face and you honestly feel gross, you definitely need a shower. Some people in the apocalypse never showered anymore, like- didn't even attempt to, and it honestly disgusted you.

You sigh as you sit on the steps with Marlon, listening to him tell you about the place, apparently it's a boarding school, for troubled youth and things. You wonder if you would've gotten along with the kids here before this all started, seeing as some of them would've been your age.

Someone with brown locs and a cheesy smile appears from behind you, your attention is grabbed by the sound of the doors shutting behind you. Your eyes meet his and you notice a light in his eyes that you haven't seen in a while.
