“So, how many walkers do you think James will help us get?” Clementine asks.

AJ shrugs wordlessly as he keeps walking, his face obviously showing he’s upset.

“Fifteen? A hundred? A thousand?” She continues.

“Guys I don’t- ow!” He stops walking, holding his side. You both freeze and turn around, quickly kneeling to his level to get a better look at him.

“Your wound?” you ask.

He nods. “It feels like someone pinched me from inside.”

Clementine looks around and her gaze freezes on a big rock a few feet away. “Here. Let’s rest a second.”

You both help him up onto the rock and he sits on it, clutching his stomach. Clementine worriedly examines him and you look around, keeping an eye out for any zombies, or worse, raiders. You hoped they weren’t this far out.

“Guys? I keep thinking… When Willy said all that stuff about Tenn before, I got so mad,” AJ speaks up and you turn around. “He was being mean, and Tenn wasn’t even there to defend himself. I wanted to hurt him. I know I shouldn’t. But I just can’t stop thinking about it. I wanna just.. punch his head. I tried breathing, kicking rocks..”

“It’s okay to get mad at people like I said, having those emotions are normal, but you shouldn’t let them control the decisions you make,” you explain and he nods, remembering.

“Sometimes staying focused on what I’m doing helps me forget when I’m angry,” Clementine speaks up. “Just uh… think about saving our friends instead, or..”

“Yeah, I know. I’m trying. Right now’s just different,” he says. “I can’t make my brain switch to thinking about it. Like, I think… I think I’m mad at Tenn, too.”

He sighs. “Running out of cover when Lilly attacked the school was really stupid. But he just doesn’t know stuff like we do. And then Willy started yelling at him instead of helping him learn.. Why don’t the other kids know all the stuff we know? When there’s a plan, you have to follow it.”

“You know, they’ve been through different things than we have,” Clementine says, sitting next to him on the rock. “There’s probably a lot we can learn from them too.”

“Like drawing, and playing the piano?” he asks.

“Exactly. We can show them how to survive, they can teach us to be… normal,” you say, sitting opposite of him on the rock.

“It’s weird that people are so different,” he says, looking down.

“It is Ericson’s Boarding School for “Troubled” Youth,” you say with a grin.

“Troubled youth,” he mutters slowly. “Trouble… like, bad. So they did bad things? Why?”

“Okay, uhm, sometimes they do them because bad things happened to them,” Clementine explains. “I knew a doctor once, back when you were just a baby. He called it trauma. You have some too, you know. The thing where people can’t walk up behind you.”

“I don’t like my trauma. I want to get it off of me. How do I get rid of it? I don’t even like the way the word sounds.”

"People used to get help, it's hard to deal with it alone. But there aren't many doctors around anymore," you say thoughtfully.

“You could just sock it right in the mouth,” Clementine says, making you laugh.

“It has a mouth?” AJ says worriedly, glancing at the ground.
