"You weren't waiting with Emma and Ray. I thought you'd be here," Norman said as he came into the bedroom, the one he slept in, with Ray and Don.
You sat on his bed, kicking your feet.
When he'd gotten near, you stood up and threw your hands around him, shaking.
He pat your back, chuckling, but you heard a wobble in his voice.
"Come on, Y/N, you know the outcome, what are you crying for?"
"What if I'm wrong Norman, what if I'm wrong, I take it back, please find a way now"-
Norman hushed you. "I trust you. You're one of the smartest kids I know," he said patting your back. "I know you'll be here for everyone, no matter how much you doubt yourself. Don't stop protecting the younger ones okay? I think Ray and Emma can fare for themselves. And if Ray found out I told you to protect him, he'd try and kill me."
You chuckled, staining his white shirt with tears. It actually already seemed like it was wet. Either with Emma or Ray's tears.
"I tried so hard not to get attached to you," you cried harder. "But you're my brother Norman. I don't care if you'll be alive, I'm going to miss you so much while you're not here."
"I'll miss you too Y/N. Don't tell anyone but you're my favourite sister."
You cried harder.
"I'm scared, you know? I was way more scared before, but I'm still scared."
You hugged him tighter.
"I know. I'm sorry you have to be in this situation. You're smart though. I know you'll find a way through it."
"You too," he whispered.
Letting you go, he grabbed his hat, the one he'd wear, heading outside, and put it on his head.
"Bye for now, sister."
You pressed your lips together to stop yourself from breaking again.
"See you in two years."
