WILL POV:
Hazel is standing there with her hand clasped over her mouth and tears falling from her eyes. I drop to my knees, sliding down next to Nico. His eyes are open and he's trying to sit up clutching at his side.
"Just lay down," I said gently guiding his head into my lap so he doesn't have to lay on the hard tiles. Mrs. O'leary comes over on the other side of Nico and lays her head in his lap.
"I'll get the medical kit," Hazel says hurrying out of the room.
"I'm sorry," Nico said as tears threatened to spill from his eyes. "I'm so sorry." His voice is so low and raspy and he seems to be having trouble staying awake from the blow to his head. "Didn't wan' you to see this."
"Shh, it's okay," I assure him stoking his hair and trying to ignore the gash above his eyebrow. "It's not your fault."
He starts crying, "Yes it is."
Hazel hurries back in with a big white and red first aid box. She pulls out some gauze and some sort of cleaning solution and hurriedly saturates the material with it.
"This is gonna sting," she says as she sets the bottle down so she has two hands. "But I guess you know that."
"Not my first rodeo," Nico says humorlessly, though it is obvious he's trying to lighten to mood. He doesn't even flinch when Hazel starts dabbing the blood from his face.
"This looks pretty deep," she says with furrowed eyebrows.
"It looks like he might need stitches," I point out chewing the insides of my cheeks.
Nico's eyes get as big as the moon, "Over my dead body."
"Well without stitches, that might just happen," Hazel said dramatically.
"Good," Nico grunts, "Put me out of my misery." He chuckles, though neither Hazel nor I thought it was very funny at all.
"We should take him to the doctor," I reason.
"We can't," Hazel sighed, "Nico would never let us."
Nico grunts, just as it seems he is coming back to reality he is back to struggling to keep his eyes open, which doesn't seem like a very good sign.
"I'll bring him to my house, my mom is a nurse she can do it," I say decisively. "I don't live too far I guess, but it would be nice if you have a car we could use?"
"No, Dad would freak, only he's allowed to use his precious cars," Hazel rolls her eyes.
"He can use one of mine, the keys are in my dresser upstairs top drawer," Nico mumbles. "Not like I'm able to use them anyways."
"I'll go get the keys for you," Hazel jumps up and runs upstairs.
Mrs. Oleary wines as she crawls practically on top of Nico as if to say, 'No he stays with me where I can protect him'.
"I'm sorry, I can't take you with us, girl, my mom is allergic to dogs," I tell the dog and she hangs her head low resting it on Nico's chest. "I'll take good care of him though, don't worry. I know he means a lot to you."
He raises a shaky hand and starts stroking her head, "I'll be alright without you girl I promise. I'll be back."
Hazel comes thundering back downstairs with three sets of keys, "Which car?"
Did she just ask him which car? I couldn't even drive my car to school without it trying to break down on me - hence why I ride the bus - while Nico has three freaking cars?
