WILL POV:
Nico was shaking slightly as we drove to the doctors so as he laid against my side I rubbed his shoulders gently. I ran my other hand through his long hair, that to my absolute delight was now long enough that he sometimes pulled it back into a little pony tail, in another attempt to calm him him down. I exaggerated my breathing so that he could try and match his to mine to keep his breathing even.

"Thank you," he states quietly.

"For?" I prompt.

"Helping me calm down," he says nuzzling his head into my shoulder until it's at a more comfortable angle. "I don't know why I'm so nervous."

"It's okay, I get it. You've seen me going to the doctors," I chuckle a little kissing his head.

When we get there we get out of the car and I hold his hand as we walk in.

"I'll go check him in," Mom says as she approaches the front desk.

Nico and I go and find seats in the waiting area, that is surprisingly full. Mom eventually comes over with a clip board to start filling out some paperwork as we wait for a nurse to come and call Nicos name.

Surprisingly it only takes about 20 minutes for a nurse to come out and call, "Nico Di Angelo?" The three of us stand up and head over to her. "Which one of you is Nico?"

Nico raises his hand, "Me."

She smiles kindly, though a little fakely, "Nice to meet you Nico, I'm Samantha. Is this your boyfriend and his mother?" He nods his head in confirmation, clutching onto my arm for dear life. "Would you like them to come back with you?" She asks after noticing his death grip on me. He nods and leans onto me harder as if expecting her to start laughing mockingly and tell him no. "Alright, that's no problem," she says instead.

We follow her back to a room and she instructs Nico to sit on the examination table.

"Alright so it says here that your coming in for your seizures?" she asks, pulling up her stool to sit in front of Nico. "What seems to be the problem?"

Nico shrugs, which is my cue that he either doesn't want to talk or he can't talk right now, so I answer for him. "Anxiety and stress have always been the cause of his seizures, but just the other day he had one when he was feeling okay. He's also getting them much more frequently and they seem to be getting worse and worse."

"Worse how?"

"They used to kinda just look like him spacing out, then they got to him just kinda going limp and tense causing him to kinda fall or at least be off balance so that I had to catch him, then his eyes started to roll back and he'd collapse completely, then he starting shaking slightly."

"It says here your seizures are from damage to your frontal cortex caused by drug and alcohol abuse. Have you recently got back into the habit of using?"

I look to Nico expectantly, because I had been thinking the same thing. I'm pretty sure I've always caught him when he tried to smoke, he's not very good at acting sober, but I can't be sure. There's a lot of drugs he's admitted to doing before and I can't help but to worry that maybe he's able to act more normal on one of those. The idea terrifies me, because while weed is awful for him I'd prefer he smoked that than was popping Xanax or anything.

He shakes his head. "I've only smoked a couple times," he says.

"Since your court ordered sobriety or since your diagnoses?" she asks.

He blushes in embarrassment, "Diagnoses."

She nods, "What did you smoke?"

"Cigarettes and weed."
