15. Traitors

Lee Rang's eyes widened on hearing his words as Jungkook pressed the knife harder, ready to slide it across her throat but stopped suddenly when he felt something .... weird. His grip on Yeon loosened as she immediately ran towards Rang as soon as Jungkook released him.

Jungkook groaned as fell on the ground whilst Yeon paused midway hearing his groan. She turned around only to see Jungkook kneeling down on the ground as his face expressions somewhat expressed pain. She furrowed her eyebrows and so did Lee Rang , confused at what just had happened.

Jungkook's hand travelled to his back. He groaned as he pulled out a sharp arrow covered with black blood , out from his dorsal region. Someone had shot this arrow whose aim was Jungkook but who ? Meanwhile , Lee Rang knew that it was the time . It was the opportunity. They could escape. He slowly held Yeon's hand and motioned her to keep quiet by pressing his finger against his lips. Yeon nodded as she held Rang's hand tightly. Rang slowly took steps backward as his eyes never left Jungkook's figure who was too engrossed with the arrow to notice that they were about to escape. As soon as Rang felt that they were at a safe distance , he whispered to Yeon , " Run. " With this being said , Rang turned around and sprinted away as fast as he could whilst holding Yeon's hand who struggled to keep up with his pace but somehow managed to do so.

Jungkook stood up as he examined the arrow for a moment before breaking it into two halves and throwing it away. He smirked as he recognised the Hell's royal symbol engraved on the arrow. " So , someone from Hell betrayed me ? Okay then." He looked back towards the overhang of the hill across the river. There he was , standing at the very edge of the overhang. The one who shot him. He stood there with a bow in one hand and an arrow in the other other. The unknown guy smirked at Jungkook as he made eye contact with him.

Without breaking the eye contact , he took a step back , then another and so on till he was no longer visible to Jungkook.
Jungkook diverted his gaze back towards the now-broken arrow as he chuckled darkly and mocked , " Bitch really thought that he could kill the soon to be King of Hell with a pathetic piece of wood. I'll handle you later , my dear friend Yeonjun-ah . " Soon his gaze turned dark as his eyes found the path from where Yeon and Rang had departed. He clicked his tongue before closing his eyes. He snapped his fingers and in an instant he vanished into thin air , leaving only black smoke swirling in the place.

After around twenty minutes of running like their life depended on it , Lee Rang and Yeon reached the Porta Hill. Lee Rang's steps filled with enthusiasm when he saw he that cliff. The cliff which was the portal to Earth. They both slowed down and eventually stopped when the cliff came in their sight. Lee Rang turned towards Yeon to say something but stopped when he heard something behind him. His face hardened as he immediately turned behind as he stood in front of Yeon protectively but he found no one. " What? I am sure that I heard the sound. " Lee Rang mumbled to himself , still holding Yeon's hand tightly. They both turned around after making sure that no one was there but both of them gasped in shock and horror as they stumbled backwards when their eyes met with Jungkook's eyes, who was smiling innocently at them.

But both Yeon and Lee Rang knew what a heinous monster was hiding behind those innocent orbs. They took a step back as Jungkook chuckled at them and said , " Surprise , surprise ... Dear precious angels. Did you miss me ? "

Lee Rang exactly knew what to do. It was the only option now. He had to do it. It was either do or die. He could die but he couldn't let Yeon die. Never. Before Jungkook could commence his sinful business , Lee Rang immediately turned around and placed his palm over Yeon's forehead as he closed his eyes and commanded , " Memory Extirpating Ring , I order you to eradicate the memories of Serenity's heiress , Crown Princess Yeon's memories. She will never recollect her memories on her own unless she is told or shown about her life in Serenity. " With this being said , a bright turquoise phosphorescence was emitted from the ring. Yeon closed her eyes due to intensity of the radiance. Jungkook , too , covered his eyes with his forearm due to the it. Lee Rang removed his palm from her forehead and tightly hugged Yeon as he whispered , " Bye-bye Yeonie. I will never forget you. " as who knows maybe it was the last time that he might see her.
