CHAPTER 19: WELL, I TRIED

I entered the front yard and Lyle was outside with Eve. It looked as though they were arguing. Matt cleared his throat and both of them looked up

Eve ran to me. "Lia. OMG. Im so sorry," Eve said,choking up. "Thanks Matty," Eve said to Matt. "Sure thing sis," he replied. Lyle approached me and I accidently bumped against Matt as I backstepped. "Sorry," I whispered to Matt. Matt nooded in response.

Lyle looked at Matt then back at me. "Lia. Im so sorry. About your Dad an what you saw earlier. I never knew you would come to the party," Lyle said. "So what you're saying is that because I wouldnt have gone to the party it was okay to shove your tongue down another girl's throat?!" I asked harshly. "No, I mean..." he started,but I interupted.

"I thought you werent like any of those boys in your group. I guess I was wrong. You're just another fake and wannabe. I cant deal with this right now. I have more important things to worry about. I dont want to speak to you nor do I want to see you. Leave me the hell alone!" I said venemously. "Lia," he said and took my hand in his, but I retaliated. "She said she didnt want to speak to you. I think its best you leave," Matt said.

"Who are you to tell me? Lia,you keep thinking you're so innocent,but you are just like every other girl I've dated. The moment a guy so much as gives you attention you think you're so inlove. Pathetic!" Lyle spat. As soon as the word left his mouth Matt punched him. Lyle swung at Matt,but Matt blocked. I got in between the two of them. "Just leave Lyle," I said. Lyle got into his grandfathers car and they drove off. Tears brimmed my eyes. "Thanks Matt," I said and my voice broke. "No prob,"he said. "Oh my word. Lia Im so sorry about all of this," Eve said and hugged me. "Lets get inside," she said.

We entered the house and everyone turned to me. My mom rushed to me. "Im sorry mom," I said and sobbed in the crook of her neck. "Its okay. I understand," she said. "Is it okay if we go to my room? I feel a bit drowsy," I said. "Sure," she said.

Matt, Eve and I went to my room and saw Jodie sitting on my bed. Once he saw us he stood up and held me really tight when I ran to him. "Thanks for coming,Jokes," I said against his chest. "I'll always be here for you, Ames,"he said into my hair. I let go of him and turned to Matt and Eve. "Thank you so much for your support. Matt thank you for checking up on me earlier, I mean comforting me," I said. "Will you be okay for the night?" Eve asked. "I guess so," I said. "Well we gotta go," Eve said. Matt looked uncomfortable and the mention of going home seemed to relax him.

Eve hugged me one last time before leaving. "Thank you Eve, Matt. I'll see you at your game tomorrow. You better kick ass," I attempted to joke. "You're still coming? Dont you think.." he started. "No. I made a promise and Im going to keep it," I said. "Lia, I'll unders..." "I said Im coming. See you tomorrow," I said. "Dude, theres no point in arguing with her. You'll never win," Jodie said and chuckled. "I guess. Well see you," Matt said. I hugged him which took him by surprise ,but he hugged me back anyway.

Eve and Matt left with aunt Jackie. "Do you want me to stay?" Jodie asked. "Only if you can. Would you come with me to the game tomorrow,please?" I asked. "Okay. What time?"he asked. "I forgot to ask. I'll ask Eve." "Is Eve going?" "Yeah." "What happened tonight before you came home?" "Why?" "Eve and Lyle were at each others throats until you and Matt came," he explained. "Eve and I went to a party Robyn held at her house which Lyle never mentioned at all. I caught him and some girl kissing and she was straddling him. So yeah thats it," I explained. "Seriously?! Im going to kill that son of a... How could he do that? Im never letting this go!" Jodie said with anger. "I told him to leave me alone. I dont want you to fight Jodie," I said. "Thats not enough! You didnt do anything to him," he said. "Thats just it. I cant give him what those girls could," I said.

"Thats bullshit and you know it! If he liked you he's suppose to respect you. Why the fück?!" Jodie shouted. "My mom can hear you. Stop swearing!" I said. "Fine!" Jodie said. "If it makes you feel any better Matt punched him outside," I said. "Why?" Jodie asked. "He said some things and called me pathetic," I said. "He wouldnt have gotten away with only a punch if I was there," he said. "Thats why Im glad you werent there," I said. Uncle Joe and aunt Jamie left. Mom went to bed. I got in bed and asked Jodie to sleep next to me tonight. Immediately I fell asleep as I laid my head in Jodies chest.

JODIE'S POV

Lia is fast asleep. She looked so peaceful. So much has happened this week and I wasnt here to help. I hate that shes so stubborn and never wants help. Im going to try and help her through this.

Her phone made an annoying buzzing sound as it vibrated on the dresser. I reached for the phone to switch it off when the jerks name appeared on the screen. Just seeing his name made my blood boil.

It was a text from him.
-Lia please. I need to speak to you. Log onto whatapp please:-(

After what he did he still has the audacity to text her. I switched on her data and went into whatsapp. As soon as I was in a message from him appeared.
-Lia. Im so sorry about tonight. I didnt mean what I said to you. I really am sorry. Please can we talk about it?

How pathetic of him. I replied:
-its Lia's cuz here.

Lyle: oh hey. Name?

Me:jodie

Lyle:oh hey bro. Is Lia around?

This asshole still pretends to be nice. Dickhead.

Me:shes sleeping

Lyle:please tell her I need to speak to her

Me:she told me what happened. Why the fück would I let you speak to her again?

Lyle:bro. You should mind your own business. Its our relationship and we need to speak. Not you.

Me:dude. Im 2 yrs older than you. Dont tell me what i should or shouldnt do. You never did anything when she  crushed on you in gr8

Lyle:i never knew she did

Me:bullshit! You're never seeing her outside of school again. I'll make sure of it

Lyle:im sorry ok. I never knew she would be there

Me:you never mentioned the party to her either or invited her

Lyle: i didnt think she'd come

Me:lia is unpredictable and if you asked  her she would have come even if she didnt want to  just to please you. What you did was unforgivable

Lyle:whatever

Me:she deserves better

Lyle:like who? Tyler or that Matt dude?

Me:tyler has Eve and Matt is a friend

Lyle:tyler told me he liked lia before we dated

Me: well now he is dating Eve

Lyle:he still likes lia

Me:now he likes Eve

Lyle: u are way off

Me:stay away from lia!

Lyle:no way mate

Me: piss off. Find some bitch that will willingly give themselves to you

Lyle:fück you!

Me: i dont swing that way. You're not my type dude.

I replied and never got a reply. I went to sleep. Well, I tried.
