CHAPTER17:TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

3 weeks has passed now and nothings changed. Im dating the mist popular boy in school who hates my friend Tyler,who has been dating my bet friend Eve. To top it off my dad is still in a coma,a blood clot in his brain. No pressure there. My mom keeps her busy with work or goes out when she can and refuses to speak to me about dad. Im not allowed to even mention his name in this house anymore. Its as if he never existed... Anyway Im off to school. Tylers mom is driving us to school today. Lyle disapproved but he didnt really have a good argument as to why. Im sitting in the back seat looking out the window while Eve and Tyler were being all lovey dovey.

At school Lyle waited for me at the gates and greeted me with a kiss. Lyle and I only went out thrice after our first date and honestly the second was better than the first. Robyn hates the fact we're dating not that I care. After school Robyn approached me. At first I thought she was going to say some nasty remark but she invited me to her birthday party on Friday and walked away. She must have some sick plan to humiliate me. The side of me that believes theres some good in everyone told me to give her the benefit of the doubt. I told Eve about the encounter and she told me to tell Lyle. I said that seeing as he is her friend he would go so I'll wait until he mentions it. On Thursday Lyle still never mentioned anything about the party. I told Eve that she'd have to go with me if he doesnt mention it soon. Saturday is also Matts basketball Championship that I have to attend.

Mom gave me permission to go to the party. I chose a purple boob tube, my faded skinny jean,black leather jacket, black leather gloves with the fingertips cut off and my ugg boots. Friday Lyle still never mentioned anything which I found strange but Im so sick of always wondering what his motives are. After school Lyles granddad drove me home. It was a silent drive. Eve got me at my house and at 5 we got dressed and went to her place. We entered her house and shockingly Matt wasnt in his room. He sat in the kitchen with his mom. "Looking good." Matt commented. "Hey mom,Matt." Eve said and rolled her eyes. "Good evening." I said. "Hello girls. You two ready to go?" Aunt Jackie asked. "Yip." Eve said.

It was a half an hours drive to Robyns house. The place was huge and already packed with more than half the kids from Triton High and some kids I never met before. Robyn approached us as soon as she saw us. "You two can come right through. As you can see the partys on full swing," she said. "Hi. You look pretty. Happy birthday." Eve said and she was right. Robyn did look pretty. She wore a red pumpkin dress with a black high heel. Her jewellery and accessories were gold. Robyn looked at our outfits. "You two look like rock chicks," she said. "Thanks. Thank you for inviting me and I hope you dont mind that I brought Eve along." I said. "No prob. The more the merrier." Robyn said and walked away. Eve and I walked further into the house.

Everyone filled the living room and garage. Alcohol was allowed at this party. "So what are we going to do?" Eve asked. "Im not sure." I said. "Lets see whats happening in the garage," she suggested. We went to the garage and everyone was dancing. Dirty Dancing I tell you! Ewww! This is totally not my scene. "This ia over the top," she said. "Totally." I said. "Why did we come again?" Eve asked. "Im not sure. Lets go." I said. I turned around to leave but stopped in my tracks when I heard. "Oh no," she said. I turned around and there was Lyle. A brunette girl straddling and kissing him. Her fingers ruffling his hair. They stopped kissing and he whispered something in her ear before nuzzling her ear. His hands were on her behind. I cant believe this happening! "Oh my..." I said choking up. "Not here you dont." Eve said and pulled me towards the front door. As we pushed through the crowd a guy stopped me. "Hi doll. Whats the rush?" Hus breath stank of alcohol. "Back off," she hissed at the guy and dragged me outside.

"I'll call my mom to get us." Eve said. "Okay." I said. The scene I just witnessed kept playing in my head. I took a seat on the steps in front. "My mom is asleep so Matt is getting us," she said. "Okay." I said. I couldnt really speak because if I did I'd break down. "Im sorry you had to see that babe. I never thought he'd be one of those guys," she said as she held me and I started crying. Lyle came rushing out. "Lia Im so sorry," he said stepping closer. "No. You back off mister." Eve said standing up in front of me. "Eve I need to speak to her please," he pleaded. I almost gave in to him. Almost. Just in time Matt pulled up. Eve and I walked to the car. Eve got in first an before I could get in Lyle grabbed my wrist. "Please Lia," he begged. "I o ew it was too good to be true." I said in a whisper and pulled my arm out of his grasp before I got in the car and we drove off.
