Saturady morning I woke up at 10. I laid in bed in the guest room at my aunts place. I could hear furniture being moved around and the aroma of food being made. I got out of bed and looked around the room. This room was made for me. Its spacious, the walls are white, dressing table black, there were two black cupboards and two bedside that were black too. In the kitchen aunt Jamie was cooking.

"Morning honn."she greeted. "Good morning. You guys are busy early." I said with a yawn. "I need to be done by 3 because your uncle and I are leaving. We trust that you and Jodie wont trash the house."she said. "Obviously. Do you need some help?" I asked. "Thanks," she said and instructed me on what needed to be done. Uncle Joe and Jodie entered the house. "Good morning," uncle Joe and Jodie said in unison. "Morning you two. Breakfast will be ready soon. Jodie you should go clean up," aunt Jamie said. I went and hugged Jodie. "Happy birthday cuz!" I said. "Thanks cuz."he smiled at me and left. Uncle Joe set uo the table and as soon as Jodie was ready we garhered by the table and ate.

"So how many kids will be attending the party?" Joe asked. "About 30." Jodie said. "Okay. Your mom and I are leaving the two of you in charge since we will be out. I want no trouble. It may be your 18th birthday, but you do live under my roof. If I as much as find an antique broken you are in deep trouble." Joe said. "Joe!"aunt Jamie scowled. Jodie ate without another word.

Uncle Joe is a really fun guy,but I hate how he treats Jodie. After we ate uncle Joe and Jodie went to get the sound system set up in the backyard. Jamie and I were cleaning the kitchen. Platters were made and Jamie assured me that everything was set before she sent me to get ready. At 1 eveything was ready. The backyard looked amazing. Christmas lights decorated the back gate entrance and were spread around the pool. Tables and chairs were scattered around. The braai area was turned into the dance area. "Wow! Im definately having my 18th birthday here. Maybe have a pool party." I said to Jodie as he came dripping out of the pool. He pushed his now drenched hair out of his face. He really was good looking. "Its in 2 years so be prepared."he said.

"Joe and Jamie are leaving soon." I said. "I know."he said. "Jodie, why dont you like uncle Joe?" I asked. "Thats a story for another day," he said. "Please? I never quite understood your relationship." I said. "Fine."he said and sat down on one of the chairs then I joined him. "Its not that I dont like him. He reminds of how different he is from my  dad. Joe expects me to do as he says when he says it. He's got alot of money and always reminds me of it and how many doors he could open for me. He doesnt get that I need a father and not a sponsor or manager. I dont care about the money at all. I liked him because he made my mom happy. He was so cool the first time I met him ,but after the wedding he became cruel.

"He thinks he controls this family and only my mom could put him in place. I miss my Dad so much. With my Dad I could talk to him about anything. Girls,my football games or rugby matches. Dad used to to come to my games and coach me on what to say to a girl. Remember when I was 12 and that girl,Kirsty, that I liked approached me? You saw how I froze and my Dad stood behind me to whisper in my ear what to say to her." Jodie said and we laughed at the memory. "Yeah. You were as red as a tomato. You put a strand of hair behind her ear and kissed her cheek. You were a real catch." I said. "Now Im all alone."he said and I looked at him. His eyes were glossy and you could see the sadness in them. Hearing him speak about his dad was a hard thing for the both of us. Uncle Henry,Jodie's dad,was fun to be around. He was our friend and in times of need he was our councellor. When uncle Henry died in a car accident 3 years ago Jodie went into a deep depression for 6 months. It hit Jodie the hardest. Him and his dad were inseparable. My mom refused to let me see him and kept us apart for 5 months which was the longest we have ever been apart. Our parents thought it best and made him take some medication.

The medication never helped and when they couldnt find any solutions they let me speak to him. Our parents were shocked that he refused to speak to them but instantly opened his door for me. I was the one to comfort him and ever since then we've been closer than ever. I put my hand on his. "You still got me." I said to him and gave him a reassuring smile. "Enough sadness for one day."he said. Suddenly he picks me up and knowing whats aout to happen I screamed." Not in the pool! Jodie!" He threw me in the pool and jumped in after me. I splashed water in hs face and vice versa. We laughed. "Truce! Truce!" I screamed with laughter. "Were you serious about 30 kids coming?" I asked. "Why? You nervous?"he asked.
