Letter 1
Dear Random Pen Pal Person,
   So, I'm sure you already know about this assignment. In case you don't, here's the gist. For one month, we're supposed to send letters to each other. I have no idea where you live, so you don't have to worry about a random person showing up wherever you are. My teacher takes care of sending the letters. We have to send at least eight letters and receive eight letters, and we can't send two letters in a row. You better do your part, otherwise I'm going to fail this assignment. And trust me, you don't want me to fail. Understand?

Two days later - Letter 2
Dear S,
   Thank you for sending the first letter. This assignment is a little nerve-wracking, and I'm glad you're being straight with it. I won't let you fail, so you don't have to worry about that. In the meantime, I think I'd like to get to know you. I don't know anyone from Rosemeadow, so I'm excited to learn about you and where you live!

Two days later - Letter 3
Dear M,
   How did you know I'm from Rosemeadow? Did your teacher tell you? If so, then tell me where you live, so we can be even. Also, Rosemeadow is the best, and it beats wherever you live by a landslide. And another thing; trying to be friendly with me isn't going to work. I'm just doing this for the assignment, and I'm not trying to make friends. I already have a boyfriend, and I have all the friends I need.

Two days later - Letter 4
Dear S,
   Yes, my teacher told us you're from Rosemeadow. We kind of admire people from Great Britain, so sorry if I wanted to get to know you. And because you insisted, I live in Rose Valley. Isn't that funny? Our cities have very similar names.
   And, your comment about friends. I understand just wanting to do the assignment, but listen to me when I say that it doesn't hurt to try and make friends wherever you can. You never know, you might need a friend like me in the future.

Two days later - Letter 5
M,
   Rose Valley? I hear that place is famous for its natural tendency to have a musical environment. Sounds like a nice place to grow up.
   And I don't need more friends. I live a happy life, and my social life has never been better. I don't need you telling me about my future, because from here it's very promising. My grades are fantastic, I have money, and I have friends. I don't need you.

Three days later - Letter 6
Dear S,
   Okay, I won't talk to you about friends or your future. It must be nice to know that your future is so full.
   But anyways, Rose Valley. You have no idea how musical it is down here. You just have to walk through the park and you'll hear a random kid singing his heart out. In fact, I'm in a band myself. I'm the main guitarist, and I can do a pretty decent solo. Wanna hear some of the music we've made?

   Thanks for agreeing to not talk about those things.

Two days later - Letter 9
Dear S,
   I sent a disc with one of the songs we made on it. I don't know what kind of music you like, so I sent my favorite. It's called All The Good Ones. In case you don't understand the lyrics, it's about a guy who meets this girl and he falls in love with her immediately. He barely knows her, heck, he doesn't even know her name. But he still loves her. Throughout the song, he asks, "All of the good ones are gone, so where did you come from?" I really like it.
