CHAPTER 36

The party started at seven in the evening. Katatapos lang din ng program kaya umakyat ako ulit dito sa kwarto para magbihis ng gown ng gagamitin ko sa cotillion.

I sighed then stared at the mirror. I must say I look good in this black gown. Nakagat ko ang labi. Hindi mawala sa isip ko ang nangyari kaninang umaga sa rooftop ng school.

There are a lot of things bothering me. How about Angela? She will get hurt. Baka nga magalit pa siya. Besides, isn't this cheating? Sila pa tapos...

“Darling...”

Napalingon ako sa pinto ng bumukas 'yon. Mom is peeking at the door, smiling.

“Everyone's looking for you downstairs,” nakangiting sabi niya.

I nod my head then smiled. Magkasabay kaming naglakad ni Mommy pababa ng hagdan. As we walk through the crowd, people are greeting and smiling at us.

They make me sat down on the elegant chair in front of everyone. Naupo ako doon kaharap ng mga tao. Napangiti ako at saka kumaway ng makita sina Rona at Sharmaine sa isang table.

I scan the crowd looking for him but I didn't saw him. I sighed and just listen to the emcee as she starts the program.

The cotillion started. The 18 Balloon, Chocolates, Teddy Bear, Treasure, Gift, Candle, Shot and at last the 18 roses.

Daddy is my first dance.

“Happy Birthday, Darling,” he greeted as we dance.

I smiled at him. “Thank you, Daddy.”

The next dance is Paul followed by some of my other former school mates. Of course, Kuya Damon and Kuya Jacob and some of Dad's investors and business partners son. I don't know some of them because Mommy is the one who picked them and not me.

Pagkatapos kong isayaw ang ika-17 ay naiwan akong mag-isa sa gitna. Si Brent ang last dance ko. I looked around the crowd but he is nowhere to be found. Nakagat ko ang labi.

Wala siya...

Did he finally made up his mind? Was he just really confuse that morning? Didn't he mean what he said?

Yumuko ako ng tumulo ang luha sa mata dahil sa mga naiisip ko. I was about to go back to my seat but then stop when I heard his voice in front of me.

“Hi.”

Nag-angat ako ng tingin at mas lalong nagsituluan ang mga luha sa mata ng makita siya. His brows furrowed a bit then walked closer to me. He held my face.

“Why are you crying?” Nagtatakang tanong niya.

I shook my head then wipe the tears in my eyes. My make up is probably ruin right now.

“I thought... you won't come,” umiiyak na sabi ko.

He chuckled then envelope me into a hug. I felt him put a kiss on top of my head.

“I love you,” he whispered right beside my ear.

Nakagat ko ang labi at saka gumanti sa yakap niya. Gosh, if ever that I am dreaming, please don't wake me up.

Magkayakap kaming dalawa habang sumasayaw sa gitna. Alam kong nasa aming dalawa ang paningin ng karamihan pero wala akong pakialam. He is holding me in his arms right now as we dance with the sweet melody in the atmosphere.

Nang lumingon ako sa paligid ay hindi na lang pala kami ang nagsasayaw sa gitna. Some of them are also dancing with us. I even saw Mom and Dad.

When I turn to Brent I saw him looking down at me with a smile on his face. Bahagyang nangunot ang noo ko ng matitigan ang sugat sa may gilid ng labi niya.
