CHAPTER 19

“You should rest for a bit, Shiela.”

I am talking to Shiela over the phone right now. Kanina pa kami naguusap na dalawa. She called me saying that she is back here for the whole summer vacation.

“Okay,” she said. “I'll come by your house tomorrow. I will bring my pasalubong for you.”

I slightly chuckled. “Okay, see you tomorrow Shie.”

“See you tomorrow, Gie. For now, I'm really tired from the flight so I'll get some sleep.”

“Okay, rest well.”

After that I went downstairs to grab some snacks. Wala pa akong productive na magagawa ngayon kasi sa weekend pa magsisimula ang shift ko ulit sa cafe.

Mom and Dad already left for work early in the morning. Hindi na nga ako nakasabay na mag-breakfast sa kanilang dalawa.

I sat down on one of the kitchen stool as I waited for the bread to toast. I sip on the orange juice first as I opened the game in my phone to spare some time.

I was in the middle of playing when my phone suddenly rings and I saw Brent's name on my screen. My brows slightly furrowed as I answered the call.

“Hello?” I answered.

“What are you doing right now?” He immediately asked from the other line.

Napalingon ako sa bread toaster ng tumunog 'yon. Tumayo ako at saka lumapit do'n.

“Nothing. At least nothing important,” I answered. “Why?”

“I'll fetch you in fifteen minutes,” he said then just drop the call after that.

Nangunot ang noo ko at saka nagtatakang tumingin sa screen ng hawak kong cellphone. How dare him hang up on me? And besides, he didn't even give the chance to ask why. That jerk...

After I quickly finished eating the toasted bread and drinking the juice, I went upstairs to change my clothes before he arrived.

I changed into a simple black shirt and a denim shorts paired with a white converse shoes. Naglalakad ako pababa ng hagdan ng marinig ko ang busina ng sasakyan ni Brent sa labas. Dali dali akong naglakad pababa at saka binuksan ang pinto. Tinungo ko ang gate at saka lumabas na.

Naglakad ako papalapit sa sa nakaparada niyang sasakyan. Agad akong pumasok sa loob ng sasakyan pagkatapos kong buksan ang pinto.

“Saan tayo pupunta?” Tanong ko habang isinusuot ang seatbelt.

“Airport,” he stated.

Nangunot ang noo ko at saka nagtatakang tumingin sa kaniya.

“What?”

He only smirked at me then started driving already. Kunot ang noo ko na umayos ng upo at saka tumingin sa unahan.

Bakit kami pupunta ng airport?

Nakanguso akong tumingin sa kaniya ng igarahe niya ang sasakyan sa garahe ng bahay nila.

He raise his brows at me.

“What?”

“Sabi mo sa airport tayo,” nakangiwing sabi ko.

He chuckled lowly before shaking his head.

“I'll wash the car first,” he said. “Then we'll go to the airport.”

Bumaba na siya ng sasakyan kaya naman bumaba na rin ako. Nakasunod lang ako sa kaniya habang naglalakad siya papasok ng bahay nila.
