Your footsteps pad softly into the warehouse, silent but a crackling fire at the other end. A faded laugh comes from the fire, and you see someone poking the fire.
You walk over to your familiar ladder, hoping they haven't already reclaimed your stuff, and begin to climb as silently as you can. Everything is dark, swaddled in the nighttime shadow. You poke your head over to your room, and hoist your leg up, crawling into the concrete room.
"Home sweet home," you whisper, sighing and brushing back your hair. Someone looks up, and you almost jump back before stopping yourself.
"Emery?" you hiss, clutching your chest, and he sits up, brushing back his hair, messed up by sleep.
"Y/N?" he says, face breaking into a smile. "But-"
He quickly slides out of his hammock and fixes his hair, combing his hands through it until it looks presentable. He sits there in disbelief, then runs forward and wraps you in a hug.
"I thought you were gone," he says, then gestures to your chest of things that doubles as a chair. "Sit down, tell me all about it. I stayed here to watch your stuff until I was sure you got in, so nothing's missing, it's all safe."
You huff a laugh and sit down, shaking your head. "It was crazy, Emery. There was this-"
You talk, and talk, until late into the night, and factionless doesn't seem quite as horrible.
Advance to 22.
