Four and another girl lead you down a stone tunnel, descending deep into the earth. In a way, it reminds you of Factionless. You shove the thought out of your mind.

A girl leads the Dauntless-born away, and you feel a stab of something. You wonder what it would be like to be born in a faction, going through initiation with all of your friends.

"For the next few weeks, I am your instructor," Four is saying.

"Your name is Four? Like the number?" Christina snickers. There's a bit of back and forth there, but you can't stop yourself from sneaking glances down the hallway. There's just so much- so much to explore and find, and safely, too. You don't have to worry about all the problems that come with being Factionless.

Creak...thump.

Four pushes open a set of double doors, and suddenly, you're thrust into an enormous underground cavern.

"Wow," you breathe, eyes widening. The sound of rushing water is all around you, and the jagged stone walls have shops and homes built into them. Orange light filters down through all of it, panes of glass covering the ceiling. The glass, the way one side of each room is open to the air reminds you of-

No, you remind yourself. You're not factionless anymore. You came from Amity, and now you're Dauntless. You shake off your factionlessness and are the first to stride forward onto the uneven platforms. Everyone is dressed in black, the Pit echoing with the sound of their chatter and expressive shouts.

"If you'll follow me," Four says, looking sideways at you, "I'll show you the chasm."

You peel yourself away from the Pit with one last look at the Dauntless, and follow Four to an iron barrier, the only one in the Pit. You shiver, casting a glance around.

"If it's covered, it must be bad," you whisper to the boy next to you, who nods.

You go a little closer, then suck in a sharp breath. Just in front of you, the floor drops off into a jagged cliff. Far, far down below, is a rushing river.

"The chasm reminds us that there is a fine line between bravery and idiocy," Four shouts over the rushing torrent. "A daredevil jump over the edge will end your life. You've been warned."

You shiver. Why would anyone...

The group is moving. You hurry over to follow them, a core of ice in your stomach. You hope no one will jump during your time here.

Four ducks through a hole in the wall, and your eyes flash with light from a dining hall. Silverware clatters, and as you enter, all conversation stops.

Suddenly, someone stands, and everyone's shouting, clapping, stamping, filling you with delightful noise. You break into a smile, smiling so hard that you can barely see.

Everyone's looking for a table. Who do you sit with?

If you sit with Christina, Tris, Four, and the boy you talked to earlier, go to 31.

If you sit with Peter and his gaggle, go to 32.

If you find random Dauntless members and sit with them, go to 33.
