The ambulance came and picked her up, taking her away to the hospital, a place she had been to so many times before. I wasn't allowed to go, since the injury was minor, but I was worried for her.
Ella was standing beside the front door, her eyes fixed on a spot on the ground. I slowly walked up and nervously waved a hand through her gaze.
Her head jerked up and she smiled. It came so easy to her, like flight for a bird; it was natural, and enthralling.
"What was the matter?" She asked, standing upright out of her lean. Uncrossing her arms, I caught a glimpse of a tiny tattoo on the inside of her wrist.
"Fell in the bathtub and hurt her shoulder." I replied. Just looking at her smile made me want to smile as well; it was contagious. "Thank you for stopping by. Would you like to come in for afternoon tea?" I found myself asking. I pinched my nose, earning raised eyebrows from Ella.
Then she nodded as well. "Sure. I'm a tad hungry? Do you have any cake? I love cake."
I grinned. "I have plenty."
