Evie's POV
"I hate how Kai's also Jewish. While everyone else is at the Christmas party doing whatever people do at Christmas parties-"
"Gingerbread houses." Lars Sua deadpanned.
"Weird sweaters." Mia Fernandez said.
"Ripping open presents like there's no tomorrow and singing songs about being in love with Santa." Sunny Kobayashi said.
"I'm sorry, what?" Grace Khatri said. "Whatever."
"But hold your horses. Kai's half-Jewish. Like Whizzer in Falsettos." Lars said. Mia groaned and said, "You're into that musical too?"
"I'm into 20 musicals, now shut up and let me finish talking. Anyway, Kai's probably gonna be bouncing back and forth between parties. We'll keep guard at the Christmas party. And Grace...you'll do whatever."
"Can I slap him into tomorrow?" Grace said. Lars sighed and said "No, you're not Sunny."
"What do you expect me to do then?" Grace said, sinking down on her bed and sighing.
"I can tell you what you can't do- don't cause a whole scene and make Kai hate us more than he already does!" Lars yelled.
"Isn't that kinda the point of today? Haven't we purposely been getting on his wits end all year?" Sunny asked.
"True, but it's the holiday season. We should probably cut him some slack." I said. Lars and Grace snickered and I was utterly confused. "What?"
"Did Kai cut us any slack during Pride Month?" Lars asked.
"No, but..."
"Exactly, Schubert. Now, come on, let's- AHH!" Grace yelped, hiding behind Lars.
"Hi!" a voice said from behind us. We all turned around and to our horror, Kai Hudson was standing in front of us.
"Kai, what are you doing? This is a private conversation, come on!" Sunny said. Kai laughed and said, "Hey, beautiful."
"Ew." Sunny deadpanned. "Wait, who are you even talking to?"
"All of you." Kai said in a creepy, flirtatious voice. We all gagged and Lars said, "Wait, even me?" with a hint of hope in his voice.
"And you're flattered by this why?" Grace asked. Lars shrugged and said, "Cause that means Kai is at least a little bit gay!"
"No, ew, I don't like Larson." Kai said.
"That's probably a good thing." I said. "But you like all of us?"
"Yep." Sunny stepped forward and said, "Take one step closer to me, and I'll slap you so hard you won't wake up until Easter!"
I laughed and said, "Kai's Jew-"
"Half-Jewish, and LET ME LIVE!" Sunny yelled. As soon as she finished talking, the loudspeaker went off.
"Students and faculty of East Bridge, let the holiday festivities begin! All students will need to return to their regularly scheduled classes after lunch."
"And to make matters worse, I don't get a party, and now I have to go to math after this?" Grace said. "Screw this, I'm going to make hot chocolate."
"LET ME IN!" Lars yelled, following Grace. I laughed at the two best friends and then said, "I'm gonna go celebrate Hanukkah while y'all are doing...whatever this is...peace!"
And then I heard a loud clatter.
"Oh God." I said, and then I saw none other than Grace tangled up in some Christmas lights.
"I'm okay!" Grace said cheerfully. "I was just intrigued, I've never seen Christmas lights before!"
"Get out of there!" Lars yelled.
"That's the problem. I think I'm stuck."
"GRACE!"
