Lars' POV
Day 1
"Today's Decades Day. If only the sophomores got the 80s so we could be Heathers..." I complained. "Not kidding, I have all the costumes and everything."
"Well, we're the 1950s, so deal." Sunny Kobayashi said. "Don't forget, this is a competition, the grade with the most spirit gets to skip one class for a pizza party next week! And I'm not gonna be the person that makes our class lose that pizza."
"Sunny, what do you care? You can't even have pizza! Don't you have Celiac disease?" Mia Fernandez said.
Sunny got into Mia's face and poor Mia looked traumatized. "Listen, Fernandez. I'm a competitive soul and no one dare messes with me."
"Y-yes m-ma'am." Mia stuttered. Sunny smiled and said, "Good. Now let's see how tacky our class looks compared to us."
_________
"Wow. Just-wow." Grace Khatri said. "Oh my God, all the freshmen in neon is making me dizzy." Yes, the freshmen had the '80s, much to my dismay. I was looking around to see if any freshman was dressed up as a Heathers character, but so far, no luck.
"Guys, I think the freshmen might take it." Evie Schubert said, and Sunny groaned in defeat. And Evie was right, the juniors and seniors barely dressed up at all and the sophomores were barely pushing through.
"Guys, let's see how everyone does tomorrow, its Patterns Day so we might have a bit more luck. Right?" I said.
"Right..." Sunny said dejectedly.

Day 2
The sophomores had stripes for their pattern. Stripes on stripes on stripes. And Sunny, as expected, went all out. Striped shirt, striped skirt, striped sweater, striped socks, striped shoes, even a striped headband. To be honest, her outfit was giving me a slight headache.
"Sunny, your outfit is ruining my eyes..." Grace said. Mia laughed in her striped shirt and ridiculous striped leggings. At least she looked somewhat presentable.
"Lars, you're not wearing anything striped." Sunny whined. I gasped. "Am so! I'm wearing pinstripe pants! That counts!"
"No, it really doesn't. Stripes have to be horizontal to count." Sunny said.
"Oh lord. Well, my outfit counts and your outfit is making me dizzy."
Sunny groaned as she almost bumped into a junior wearing camouflage. "Hey, nice outfit!" the junior said, giving Sunny a high five.
"See?" Sunny said.

Day 3
"It's Book Character day, and is it bad I've never read The Mysterious Benedict Society in my life?" Mia said.
"Oh my God, I love that book!" Grace squealed. "I've read the whole series, I would kill to be a part of that society!"
And every single girl in our friend group was dressed as Kate Wetherall. And me as Nicholas Benedict. I laughed as we walked out to the hallway.
The freshman got lucky. They could choose from any Roald Dahl book on the planet, and a lot of them chose Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I did see some girls dressed as Matilda Wormwood from Matilda, but that's pretty much it.
