"Do you think he'll be okay?" asked the voice of a child. "I'm amazed he's still breathing after what he's been through." said a comforting, fatherly voice. "It is rather peculiar that he kind of looks like... but not quite..." said a loving, motherly voice. "Oh! His eyes! They're opening!" Said the child. I finally regained some semblance of consciousness and was able to manage saying "Where am... who are... everything hurts..." "Oh?" said the child, "You've fallen down, like we have. You must've hurt yourself pretty bad before you got here. You were barely breathing!" "Yes... but... ow..." "Why don't you introduce yourself?" said the mother. "Oh! Yeah! Sure! My name is Asriel, this is my dad, Asgore, and this is my mom, Toriel." "You sure I'm not dead? That sounds an awful lot like..." "You wouldn't be hurting so much if you were dead, kid!" said Asgore. "And have we met? Maybe you're like our cousin or something!" "Now, now, let him rest. And get him something to eat, he must be starving." said Toriel. "I mean..." I said, "I am... but, I'm so tired..." "You're going right back to sleep after I get you a nice pie. I'll be a few minutes, but I'll get it as soon as possible." And so, I faded back into unconsciousness with a lot on my mind. I knew their names from this game I had played a while back, but they could not be the same, could they? The voice that I had associated with Toriel returned as they said and a wonderful smell permeated the room I was in. "Now, this might feel a little weird for a moment..." "I don't know what you..." but before I could finish, there was the taste of cinnamon and butterscotch in my mouth. Before I could fully comprehend how good it tasted, I felt this intensely fantastic sensation flowing through my body. In but a few moments, it felt as if I had just had the best night's sleep of my life and everything stopped hurting. "Now I've seen... woah!" Before me stood this white goat-like creature, holding most of what looked like a pie. I immediately recognized them from my game. "You're... You're..." "Yes?" she said with her head tilted to their side. "Looking great! I mean..." "Oh, you don't have to flatter my old self. Anyway, it's good to see you up." "Yeah, yeah..." "You think you can walk?" "Oh, yes, of course." I swivel my legs to the side of the bed I was in and place them upon the floor. "Well, here goes..." I stand up without a hitch. I then start to walk around the room with as much effort as it takes to walk normally. "Good! Let's get the others in here now. Gorey! Asriel! He's up!" And so two more goat-people walked into the room, both male, one older, one probably their child. "So, the young one must be Asriel, yes?" "Yup, that's me!" said the goat-child. "It's... very nice to finally meet you all. My name's Azatiel." "Nice to meet you Azatiel!" Asgore came over and gave me a hug and a pat on the back. "Don't you think it's a little early for hugs? I mean, I did just get up." "Oh, uh, sorry." "Don't worry about it, just, uh, give me a warning next time, ok?" "Sure thing! Now, why don't we all show you around here?" "Sure. That would be nice." It was difficult not to say that I recognized any of them, but my heart grew weary knowing what was eventually to come. In the meantime, I decided to follow along.
