"It's been my pleasure staying here with you. I would like to think that there is more to the underground though, yes?" "Haha! Of course, friend!" Asgore exclaimed with gusto. "This is just where we happen to live right now. We do have a new home near the core, but it's currently being built." "Well, people know me as quite the caster where I'm from." "Show me what you can do, Azatiel!" exclaimed Asriel. "Calm down, Asriel. You know how destructive magic can be and the dinner table is no place for that stuff." Asgore uttered. "Aww... C'mon!" "Oh, all right. I guess I can show you something." Asgore leans away from the table in shock. "Oh? Don't worry. My magic has a variety of effects, many of them non-destructive." He leans back in a little. I think of the experience I have had recently. The homeliness of these ruins, the people I've met, it fills me with hope. A ball of light manifests at the center of the table, lighting up the room. "Oh? That's new." Asgore reaches toward the ball of light. "It's really nice, actually. Kind of like a good cup of tea." "It feels like hot cocoa!" Asriel claims. "It's a soft light, fuzzy, warm." "This is warmth." I clarify. "This pyromancy is originally from the land of Drangleic. It's an odd land, filled with many magics and people. The only issue is that the land is cursed, incredibly cursed." "Then why'd you go if you know it's cursed?" "The magic itself isn't cursed, though. Most magics from Drangleic and similar lands are combat oriented, but there are a few outliers." "How do you know of this, erm, Drangleic?" "Well, it's from a video game I play." "You can learn magic from a game?" "Yes, that's how I learned a lot, if not most, of my spells. Be it from lighter or darker fantasy." "Is magic not commonplace from where you are?" "Well, I'm not necessarily from around here..." "Well, yeah, you fell down here." "Yeah, I'm from pretty far away..." "Like the other side of the world? Cool!" "Yeah, yeah..." "So what magic do you know?" "Well, you know about pyromancies. Strangely enough, pyromancy of those games is not limited to fire. It can be used to summon stone and poison, for some reason." "Huh, weird." "Then you have sorceries, which are typically the traditional projectiles that deal magic damage." "Magic damage? What kind?" "Well, it's like, um, I'm going to say force damage, like a shockwave but more focused." "Oh, ok." "There are also other sorceries that manipulate light. They can make weapons invisible and things like that." "Then there miracles. Miracles require conviction to cast, that is, the more you believe something is real, the more powerful the miracle. Miracles are typically stories from religious texts, be it wrath of God, people being healed, that sort of thing." "There are, other forms of magic that are typically seen as corruptions of typical magic and are seen as taboo." "Why?" "The impacts of most darker magics, frequently known as hexes, violate most agreed terms of warfare. Some desecrate the dead, some replicate the impacts of chemical warfare and some, however, are more akin to existing miracles, sorceries and pyromancies. These dark magics all draw from inner, complex emotions. Fear, love, despair, hope. These emotions only capable of being comprehended and believed in by people are incredibly potent. I'm sorry if this worries you, I understand that dark magic tends to disturb." "What? Oh. Don't worry about it, Azatiel. I'm sure that it's all good." "Hey, Mom! Is dinner ready yet?" "Yes, Asriel. Just let me bring it in." The warmth spell fades as soon as Toriel walks in the room. "All right, I have one small pie for each of you." I blow on the pie to cool it off and begin to eat. After everyone is finished, I felt incredibly tired. "Yawn..." "Oh. It makes sense that you're tired. Come now, let's get you to bed." I am lead to another room that I was in earlier. I then get into bed and get ready to sleep. "Good night, Azatiel." Said Toriel. "Good night, Toriel." And so, I quickly fell asleep.
